High amniotic fluid

I’ve just had a 38 week growth scan (had them at previous weeks too due to an autoimmune illness) all have been fine with baby measuring on the 50th and normal fluid levels.

Today the sonographer flagged that the deepest amniotic fluid pocket was 9.6cm (I think it’s meant to be under 8?) and this is excess fluid.

I tested negative for gestational diabetes earlier in pregnancy, and the midwife didn’t seem concerned at all when chatting through the results. Said it can be position or other harmless reasons.

Im due to have an elective csection next week but I’m terrified now after reading things online about cord prolapse if your waters go and babies having health conditions etc.

Anyone had similar? Would it just be a fluke reading at this stage?

I had that and there were no problems at all. I remember being worried about it at the time but if it happens again I won't think twice about it.

Had this in my last pregnancy and everything was fine. I was induced and they broke my waters, there was absolute floods 😂 but baby didn’t go into distress or anything

Also had this (picked up at about 20 weeks) and all was fine. They will keep an eye on you. Good luck!

Thanks all. That’s reassuring to know that all
was well. I feel like I don’t even know if it’s accurate if it was fine a few weeks ago, but have read it can increase in late stages. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly and might stop scaring myself with google!

I’ve had it in 2 pregnancies. You are only just on the high side, if the midwife wasn’t worried, I wouldn’t be. Fwiw my deepest pool was 20cm and I was being scanned twice weekly by a consultant, with the risk of needing it drained. Both babies were born healthy (but there was a small flood when they were born!). Good luck!

I know this was a few months ago now. But I've just been for my 38 week growth scan and was advised my fluid pocket was also 9.6 Again sonagrapher wasn't concerned but I've been on Google and wish I hadn't as I'm now panicking.

I had polyhydramosis in my last pregnancy. Was warned about cord prolapse if waters went to go on hands and knees with bum in the air. My waters didn't go and baby was born in her sac, burst as she was half out. She did have to have a tube to test her air way/swallowing was right but all. Was fine. Xx

It's just a worry as everything has been fine up until this point, I had a scan at 36 weeks and all was ok
