I'm 10 weeks. Nausea, heartburn etc have eased quite a bit. But the insomnia kicked in around 10 days ago and it is driving me crazy. Friday I woke up at 1.30am. Saturday 4.30, Sunday 4.30, last Night 3.30. I'm wide awake from then on, it's awful!

I go to bed at 9.45, fall asleep just fine. I am exercising, I have a routine, not eating heavy meals, no alcohol obv, literally doing everything they say you should do. I am not stressed or overworked, relationship is great, super happy. But I am still waking up and now I'm worried about my baby too!

Any ideas, thoughts, hints? Help!

Haven’t got any answers but I’m 9+5 and exactly the same as you. I’m awake at 3am every night like clockwork! Hoping someone comes along with suggestions to help because I’m running on empty ☹️

I'm exactly the same and I'm only 5+3 weeks. Not many other symptoms and I'm exercising even more regularly (although not as intensely). I'm not sure if it's hormones or anxiety about the baby but it's so frustrating!

It has to be hormones, I'm not anxious about anything (other than sleep!). Going to bed in the evening is now stressful in itself as I wonder how little I will sleep tonight!

I took a Tylenol PM which helped a bit (I read it's safe) but I don't really want to take drugs, especially in the first trimester.

Insomnia is perfectly normal. There is no need to worry about your baby because of it.

I found a warm bath in the evening and a warm milk drink (or hot chocolate) helped even in the middle of the night and then I'd go and watch a film if I still wasn't feeling sleepy. I watched Gosford Park on repeat as it seemed to at least send the baby to sleep in the later weeks! Sometimes reading a pregnancy book sent me to sleep again....

Like all stages of pregnancy this does end.,,although it is likely to start up again in the third trimester.

All part of pregnancy baby will be fine. Mother nature getting you ready. It may settle at some point or it may not.Make thr most of any rest and sleep you can get.

I’be not had much sleep at all this pregnancy 😆 I’ll get more sleep once baby is out & I can not bloomin wait!

First trimester was bed bound and severely sick with HG & insomnia was there during the night too. Second trimester spd & pgp has kicked in so much sooner than first pregnancy can not move around in bed very well at all then up to pee & waking every hour. Third trimester currently and it is so painful to again move around day & night. Dread bed time! Hips legs & pelvic pain is unreal then landed in hospital for 6 nights with infection. Oh and few uti’s that were discovered late.

hopefully settles for you soon
