Hi All. I’m new here and expecting my first baby at 39 years old. I had the quadruple bloods for Down syndrome and it’s come back as increased risk and 1 in 137 chance. 1 in 133 chance of that is due to the fact I’ll be 39 years old and 10 months when I give birth. I’m now waiting to have the NIPT test tomorrow which takes 2 weeks to come back. To say I’m all over the place is an understatement. Has anyone else been through this and at such a high risk? I’m genuinely in pieces at the moment. Thank you!

Sorry you are going through this. To look at it another way those figures also mean there is over a 99% chance that baby will be fine.

Hi, I had something similar years ago with my DC3, with a 1 in 55 chance (my older DC had been 1 in 10,000 or something. I was all over the shop but I always pop onto threads I see like this to recommend the ARC helpline. They are really knowledgeable about all the different stats and very sympathetic - I cried throughout the call and the lady was lovely. Very good luck with it all.
