Hi,

I'm currently 4+4, Sorry if TMI but I've been constipated since before finding out I was pregnant. I'm struggling to go and I was just wondering if anyone has any remedies/ know of any stool softeners etc that are safe to take In pregnancy?

I've found that orange juice the one in a carton seems to help a little but not massively. It's making me miserable as I just feel uncomfortable 😣

I can sympathise it's so uncomfortable! My first pregnancy I was constipated the whole way through. This time I haven't been constipated. I am eating more apples, oranges, grapes and cereal with fibre like Shreddies and Weetabix. Could be a coincidence but it seems to be working.

Kellogg’s All Bran cereal.

Doesn’t taste best, but your constipation will quickly be gone.

Hi OP
as above you can increase fibre but make sure you are having plenty of fluids to flush it through. The hormones slow down the bowel transit unfortunately.
you can take lactulose whilst pregnant xx

@Pickledprawn Thankyou! I'll have to try upping my fruit intake, it's awful I've never been like this before 😣

I used to eat a whole raw pepper every day (salad peppers - not chilli peppers). That helped move things along.

@Emma543 Thank you! I read that it's the hormones apparently it only gets worse as pregnancy progresses. I'll try upping my fibre intake, I'm going to try get some of that lactulose just for some short term relief! Xx
