Subchorionic hematoma

Has anyone had a Subchorionic hematoma?
I'm currently measuring 13 weeks 6 days with our first, heartbeat 163 and very active. I went for an emergency scan due to heavy bleeding and everything seems OK but they founds a "4cm superior and anterior Subchorionic hematoma". Has anyone else had one and its been OK? Anything I can do to help it go away?

Thanks

Yes, 1st with my 18yo and 2nd with my 14yo, both were scary, actually thought I'd lost them both. Huge clots and nasty bleeding. Thankfully both had resolved by around 2o weeks. Scans at least two weekly from 8 weeks to 20,nothing helped other than do the least you possibly can, plenty of bed rest and take care of yourself, it's scary but doesn't have to mean the worst. Wishing you all the best

I had a small one that caused small amounts of bleeding. Consultant said not to take any special precautions however I was v careful not to do too much during pregnancy once I researched what the advice is in other countries including plenty of bedrest. I didn't take any flights or exercise much and it was eventually absorbed and couldnt be seen any more. Best of luck to you!

Yes, I bled large clots in large amounts on and off from 13 until 20ish weeks, baby born healthy. All pregnancies after that fine no issues. Hoping for the same for you.

I did. It measured as big as a coke can and we discovered it through spotting at 14 weeks. He's now a lovely, kind, goofy 5yo. It can turn out okay, OP. Wishing you all the luck in the world moving forward Flowers

I had a big hematoma in the uterus with my first and they expected me to lose the baby. It caused me to have 10 big red bleeds, one where my pj bottoms were so soaked in blood I threw them out but she survived and 18 now. Bed rest made mine worse and it grew on bed rest and went when I moved but hard to know.

Yes. I had what I can only describe as a haemorrhage at 13 weeks, after going to A&E I was admitted to some ward. Then I was hoisted off the bed onto a commode and the thick and fast pouring blood filled a metal pan.
I was assessed internally and they said my cervix was closed but it would "probably open now".
I had to wait 12 hours for a scan, but there she was, totally fine.
I had scans very often from that point onwards because they'd realised the presence of the sub chorionic haematoma. They told me it was likely to resolve itself by the 20 week scan and it did.
DD just turned 12 Smile

Yes, I had a big bleed at 14 weeks. Scan showed a ‘massive’ haematoma of 120mls. I then bled lightly up until 20 weeks. By 28 weeks it was undetectable on the ultrasound. Baby is now two weeks old and snoozing peacefully beside me!

I had a huge bleed with clots without it being spotted on a scan prior. Apparently they are very common and often get reabsorbed back into the body, you may have had the majority it come away already with your bleed. If the person who spotted it was unconcerned then I would follow their lead, avoid sex/baths/exercise until your 20 week scan at which point they are usually gone I believe

My pregnancy is still progressing as expected with two scans since the bleed and no issues spotted

Hey I just wondered how you were getting on OP. I was diagnosed with one the other day having had a big bleed - I completely assumed id miscarried. I’m about 10 weeks and it’s 4 x 2cm which seems quite big. Evidence online very conflicting. I feel like I won’t be able to relax for the rest of the pregnancy at all now 😥

Hey! That sounds so similar to me; mine was 4cm and I also was convinced I had miscarried 😔 it's been a little over three weeks since the initial big bleed and I am still spotting almost daily, but both the doctors and midwife have said that so long as the blood is old and brown, not red or fresh, not to panic. It still fills me with worry every time I see it! I have a private scan next week to see how things are and to hopefully get some reassurance- hopefully it'll look like things are healing and I can get some peace of mind. Best thing I've been told to do it drink lots of water and pelvic rest, other than that it's just a waiting game. Im also told it is way more common than we realise, but that doesnt stop it being terrifying. When is your 12 weeks scan? Hopefully yours will look like it's improving too! It definitely helped me by seeing baby on the screen all looking well. Wish you all the best x

My next scan isn’t actually for about 2 and a half weeks but I think if I’m feeling too anxious, I might go get a private ultrasound. I’ve stopped bleeding completely which is obviously great for now but I’m terrified I will flood again so wearing pads constantly! It sounds like yours is healing normally and I hope all goes well in next scan. It’s good to see lots of positive stories about people who’ve had this though so fingers crossed we’ll be ok x

I had a haematoma at around 11 weeks. I'd had spotting throughout the pregnancy, but I had a sudden, incredibly heavy bleed - I felt it and looked down and my blue skirt was bright red; I'll never forget it - which resulted in me being bluelighted to hospital. Had an awful overnight wait before I could have an ultrasound, in which I was convinced I must have miscarried.
She had her first driving lesson today!
I wish you and others on the thread the very best for your pregnancies.

Hope you don’t mind me joining this thread. @BumbleAw Hearing this seems very similar to what I’ve just had. How are you getting on now?. I just had a heavy bleed 2days ago at 14weeks +4 days. I was so sure I lost mine because it was so heavy but had two scans and was all okay, stayed overnight and the bleeding started to calm down. They could see on the scan where the bleed came from and said it looked to be healing. I’m having very light brown spotting now (old blood I hope). I’m so scared, I’m on bed rest at the moment. Thanks for posting your story as I’ve just never heard of anyone I know having this. Xxx

I had one when I had spotting at 5 weeks, but it went away by by 11 week scan. I was so worried about this but any midwife I mentioned this to said its very common and nothing to worry about. All scans good so far and I'm 20 weeks
