Erm, any reason why straining to go to toilet could cause vaginal bleed (12 weeks)?

Only straining a little bit (constipation sets in early for me), and at first assumed it was an anal bleed, but after wiping concluded that it appeared to be vaginal.

No bleeding since (was about 4 hours ago).
Had 12 week scan on Monday and all appeared fine.

Anyone else experienced this, or have any idea why it might happen?

i had this and it was a old bleed if that makes sense! ie the blood was not bright red but still get seen

I had a low lying placenta, and whenever I had a poo i would bleed a little, had with 2/3 pregnancies and both little blighters were horrendously overdue in the end. You need to mention it to your midwife especially if you are rhesus negative

Thanks pruners. I do have a mobile number for my mw, but don't want to bother her on a bank holiday if there's nothing useful she can say or do.

Was def considerably more than a 50p piece though. (Had one which was much smaller last weekend, but think that was caused by sex).

I think I'll leave it as long as it doesn't happen again, but give her a ring if it does.

Just to update that no more bleeding (well, I had one brown spot the next morning, but looked like it was prob left from the day before), and no more constipation, as I've had an upset stomach for the last couple of days!

Think I'm seeing mw on Friday, so will ask her to use doppler to check all ok. Think I've felt a tiny bit of movement still (much earlier than I did with dd), so am assuming all is well until proven differently.

Hope everything is ok for you neveronamonday.
