noted thread on decaf tea but what about coffee? I drank regular coffee my last pregnancy, guideline said no more then 4 cups a day. Then heard reserach from states bout caffiene and miscarrige and thought oops!Started bleeding the next day and had missed miscarrige at 8 wks . So, now 5 wks and drinking decaf coffee, only one cup a day. This should be ok? right?

I am sceptical about research from the States. According to them anything can cause miscarriage. Most of the time they are just not meant to be, so don't blame yourself or caffeine! I avoided coffee in the first trimester of this one because I went off it, but I will now have the odd cup, no more than one a day. That is fine.

I drank at least two cups of coffee or tea a day and maybe if i was feeling naughty, i would have a third. All fine here!! >

I have to say i take most research with a pinch of salt, so it never stopped me drinking 2 or 3 cups of the stuff when pg with any of my 3 dcs, and they are all fine

Didn't put me off wine, chocolate etc either...

Couldn't face tea though, still can't

Put the kettle on, mine's white with a half of sugar

I wouldn't blame yourself. I drank coffee through my first pregnancy, and had a missed miscarriage. Then I got pregnant again, and couldn't touch the stuff - pregnancy fine.

I suspect that the research is flawed - if your hormone levels are low (i.e. there is a problem with the pregnancy), you're much less likely to go off coffee. So they may have the cause and effect the wrong way round - people who are likely to miscarry still drink coffee...
