Hi,

I know this is going to sound silly, but everything is worrying me.

A few days ago I had really watery discharge but now its gone to thin, clear, sticky discharge like an egg White but clear. Everywhere I look online scares me by saying it could be the mucus plug.

I have had agonizing tummy pains for weeks and just as I was getting used to it being round ligament I am now getting lower back pains, like cramps or needing to go to the Toilet.

20 week scan is next thursday and Im ao nervous something will be wrong. It's my first baby, but weve already had some scares (bleeds) along the way. My other half says he thinks it will all be okay but im too frightened to buy clothes or bby things in case the worst should happen.

The internet Sends me down Scary rabbitholes of others who, sadly, lost their babies at around this gestation. I kept thinking when I made it to the second trimester I could relax but apparently not.

Just looking for a handhold and some answers from others who've experienced these things.

Thank you.

Massive handhold OP!! I was the same way, feeling so so anxious all the time, googling constantly. I also kept thinking when I got to X weeks I’d be ok and this wasn’t the case. I won’t patronise you by telling you to calm down etc but please do try to stay off doctor google - it has never once been helpful.

I really regret spending my whole pregnancy worrying and wished I’d enjoyed it more but as you know we really can’t help it. One of the things I did was force myself to buy just a couple of bits even just bibs or something.

Good luck with your scan I am sure baby will be perfect! Are you going to find out the sex?

In your case op I would go to maternity assessment. They will be able to see if there are any signs of labour it might just ease your mind a bit.

Good luck though and I hope things ease off soon!

Totally empathise I have had 5 scans and have been convinced they will tell me baby has died at every one..I broke down in tears at the last one. Have 20 week scan today and I'm bricking it! I've read lots of threads like this so we are not alone. If you are worried about symptoms of course get checked out but I imagine it's all normal, my midwife told me unless you have really severe pain and/or bleeding the chances are everything is fine..of course we still worry that it's not! I've had a strong word with myself that after the scan today if all is good I will enjoy the next 20 odd weeks not spend it worrying. Big hugs to you

Hi I'm at 19 weeks and have also had watery discharge and back cramps which have eased off, it's completely normal. If you are still concerned you need to speak to your midwife.

MojoJojo71 · 02/02/2024 07:26

please don’t Google, give your midwife or maternity unit a call for advice. Lower back pain could be something simple like a UTI but if it is it needs to be treated. Good luck with your scan, hope it goes well

Thank you all so so much. I am planning on finding out the gender and I'm so glad everything is going well for you all. Its lovely to know there are so many kind hearted people out there feeling exactly what im feeling :)

hi op, I constantly have discharge and cramping. My cramping was so severe that I had an extra scan for reassurance and baby was fine. Midwife said what I'm experiencing is completely normal
