Hi everyone,
I really hope someone can help. I'm around 8 weeks pregnant and in the last week by symptoms have totally disappeared and I just don't feel pregnant at all. I've had a blighted ovum before and am fairly certain this could be similar or early MC. I haven't booked in with midwife yet, and can't afford a private scan, do I need to contact the doctor for blood tests? I have no pain or bleeding so EPU won't scan me. Has anyone had any luck getting tested? I have a scan in 2 weeks but don't want to wait that long.
Thanks

Some hospitals have self-referral EPU's that are walk in (St. George in Tooting).

Having said that, try not to worry. I had zero symptoms in my 3rd pregnancy (after hyperemesis in my first two). He's now 9.

Around the 8/9 week marker, the placenta starts picking up the slack and will begin taking over. Until now, the corpus luteum has been producing progesterone which is crucial in supporting a new pregnancy.
Your hormones will change at this point as will your symptoms. Infact, it's quite common to have a lull in symptoms around now and by week 12, the placenta is fully up & running.

Depending on how accommodating your GP is, you could request 2x HCG blood tests to be done 48 hours apart. This is the only true marker of how well a pregnancy is progressing at this stage.

If only we had a window into our womb just to check on little bubs eh!

I can’t give you much advice in the way of getting a scan on nhs, but I had a blighted ovum in June and I still experienced pregnancy symptoms until surgical management of the pregnancy. I did have a scan but I had two episodes of pink spotting which started the whole process of investigating. Sometimes symptoms can fluctuate in pregnancy, so hope this puts your mind at ease x

I found around 8 weeks that most my symptoms disappeared and then came back around 10 weeks. With my first pregnancy I didn’t have any symptoms at all other than a missed period. I didn’t feel pregnant and didn’t believe I was until I had a scan.
It is fairly common for the symptoms to disappear and the pregnancy still to be okay so try not worry too much. Sadly epu won’t do anything unless you have bad cramping or bleeding.
I would book in with the midwife and try get all the booking info started as it can take a few weeks for them to get back to you anyway!

Thanks guys,

I've rung the doctor and they won't do a blood test so looks like I am going to have to just wait it out.
@Ems1992 I'm sorry you've experienced a loss, it's such a hard time.
