Hi all,

Had a 34 week sizing scan today, all with scan was well except my amount of aminotic fluid apparently it's at 3.5cm and should be above 4.5cm. Baby is moving fine and the cord was checked and is fine, but i am having a discharge which i have had for weeks and just thought it was mild incontience due to pressure of baby (did tell midwife today, but she didn't seem concerned). However after closer inspection this evening it doesn't seem like urine as doesn't have a pungent smell more a sweet smell and a light straw coloured look. But this is my first pregnancy and haven't a clue what aminotic fluid would look like or smell like.

Can people advise should i be getting the midwives to explore further or should i just sit and wait like they advised today, monitioring babies movments to get intouch if they decrease and just wait three weeks to the next scan?

I had a scan @ 38+5 weeks which shown that the fluid was low. Babies movements had also decreased so i was induced the next day at 38+6 weeks and gave birth to a healthy little boy a few days later at 39+2 weeks. I have to say though that i think my fluid was lower than yours. It was well below the 5th centinal (if thats what its called).

yes you should contact m/w and they can test to see if its amniotic fluid. this is important as you may need antibiotics to protect baby from infection. it would be very unusual to be incontinent without a urine infection.
if i were you i would give labour ward tomorrow (well today now) and say you think it is your waters - and its been a while

good luck

Hi

I am having a similar experience. I was adviced to go to hospital to have a small 'leak' checked out and both the midwife and the doctor were suprized that I was 31weeks. They then measured my FH and said I was closer to 26weeks and need to go in for a scan. Concerned as that means that the baby has only grown about 1cm in the last 3 weeks since my last FH measurement. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Sorry to hear you've got concerns too flowerpots.
I contacted my midwife on friday and she said aslong as my babies movments were still okay it was fine to stay at home and just monitior the situation! Although think that was mainly advised because i'm about an hour away from the nearest hospital and if it turned out to be nothing it really would be a wasted journey. But she's seeing me early next week to check heartbeat etc. But other than the fact i am still leaking something everything is fine and babies measurements at the scan on thursday were all correct for dates.

Hope they get to the bottom of your problem quickly i sympathesis with how worring these things are!
