SquonkForgotHerEasterName · 20/03/2008 21:14

yes.

But you may need the lower strength one, check with the pharmacist first.

And no to the pessaries (I think)

BoysOnToast · 20/03/2008 21:15

oh god not to pessaries. based on nothing scientific whatsoever.

actually, i think i did use a pessary once in pg... hmmm. if i did doc said was ok. tis all closed an stuff, innit

scorpio1 · 20/03/2008 21:16

you can use a pessary (i did from MW advice 2 weeks ago at 35 weeks). also yes to cream.

No to bubble bath, thongs, tight jeans.

SquonkForgotHerEasterName · 20/03/2008 21:17

yeah, tis all closed and stuff, but I think it is too concentrated in pessary form.

scorpio1 · 20/03/2008 21:17

also use fingers to insert pessary instead of applicator whilst pg. put a pad on.

SquonkForgotHerEasterName · 20/03/2008 21:17

oh good, I'm wrong.

yes to pessary

BoysOnToast · 20/03/2008 21:18

yes.
vaguely remember my mum (mw) saying something like, its better to be absolutley sure you havnt got thrush before the birth coz giving birth through a thrushy birth canal would give the baby thrush.

ew

SquonkForgotHerEasterName · 20/03/2008 21:19

and hurt

SquonkForgotHerEasterName · 20/03/2008 21:19

lots

scorpio1 · 20/03/2008 21:22

ooh yes baby can get thrush in mouth too.

Treat your DH/P too, even if symptomless. (Cream under foreskin)he could be passing it back and forth to you.

scorpio1 · 20/03/2008 21:23

and why are you not on my antenatal thread???

IdrisTheDragon · 20/03/2008 21:23

When I was pregnant and had horrible thrush, was presribed loads (maybe 6?) pessaries to take. I did. It worked

rookiemater · 20/03/2008 21:26

I got thrush too. You can use pessaries but you do need to check with the doctor, and I seem to remember you don't put them too far in iyswim. You can get canesten shower cream too.

liz2388 · 20/03/2008 21:31

use the pessary but dont insert it with the applicator. once it has cleared up keep using the cream lightly every couple of days just to keep it at bay. i got it from about 32 weeks and couldnt believe the pain and discomfort. do whatever it takes to get rid of it!

munchkinmum · 20/03/2008 21:36

wow, thanks everyone. Have got some of the bog-standard cream in the cupboard so will plaster it on with a trowel tonight!!! It's mild at this stage so will have a go at sorting it out with cream over the BH w'end and if persists will do and see Dr.

You are all stars!!!

P.S. Scorpio - point me in the right direction - I'd love to join the antenatal thread!! And, by the way, I consider myself well and truly told off!
