Discharge Early Pregnancy - TMI WARNING

Hi, can someone explain what I can expect as a "normal discharge". I am around 14 weeks, scan next week, and this morning found a blob (awful word - sorry) of discharge that was a dark creamey orange, more than I would normally expect, and the rest of my pants were really wet. No red or brown.

Am I just being pregnant and paranoid?

Lots of other very normal symptoms - all day sickness, tiredness, and an exam by 2 mw instead of a dating scan.

Can someone please reassure me?

sounds a bit strange to me, and my initial thought was your mucous plug. I think you need to call your midwife or the AN admissions ward and speak to a midwife as soon as possible.

hopefully lulu or one of the other lovely childbirth ladies will be along shortly.

Are you still there HNM2B?

Hi - sorry, still struggling to stay up past 9.00pm!

I decided that is what I should do and rang, she said it was just a normal discharge and I should expect things to be a bit different.

She said that it could get heavy, darker, and lots of other combinations, so unless it does contain anything red or brown or similar, I should get on with it. I have my scan next week anyway, and it hasn't appeared this morning, so hey ho, probably just another thing for me to learn to ignore, as with the totally different nipples, spots, nausea and everything else!

Thanks for your reply. It seems easier to ask complete strangers about these things than my mum!

glad things have settled down for you

ikwym about asking your mum; with mine it was so long ago; she couldn't remember!...and my MIL, after I'd been in hospital at 33 weeks with very painful BH (so much so that even my MW thought I was labour) said "braxton hicks contractions; we never had them in my day"!

HappyNewMum2Be · 21/03/2008 10:47

There is about 30 years age difference between my mum and mil as there is an age gap between hubby and I.

WHen I first found out I was pg, i was having a lot of stretching pains, and when I mentioned them to mil, she went all embarrassed, even though I just said I am having what feel like period pains, but it is just my insides moving about a bit. This from a lady who had 4 kids, 1 in hospital, 2 at home and 1 c section (with a son who is the same age as me - so late 70's just like my mum so not as if last century or anything).

Anyway, I've struggled to tell my family I was pregnant - i felt like they would all go around pointing at me saying "hah, we know what you've been up to!!"

silly

lol...I'm sure it'll be obvious soon enough! Have you joined the ante-natal thread for the month you're due? Lots of support and advice from women going through things at the same time as you

HappyNewMum2Be · 21/03/2008 11:28

Yep, only a million posts and hundreds of conversations! It is a little overwhelming at times!

Thanks again. What about you? due, already been, waiting to be ???

I have a 9mo old DD and am 7 weeks pregnant with DC3...due November.

I must be mad!

HappyNewMum2Be · 21/03/2008 11:36

Congratulations!

At least you will be a little more relaxed this time round - hopefully. When I spoke to the midwife yesterday, I said that even though I am so early yet, I am looking forward to No2 as my sil enjoyed her 2nd pregnancy so much more than her 1st, even though it was much harder + a 3 year old, cos she didn't worry that every pain in her foot was something to do with the pregnancy!

I think this one is bringing it's own worries. I had 2 mcs between DS and DD, so every twinge has me on edge. I'm also still Bfing DD which is getting to be very very painful.

and my body has relaxxed into it already and I look like I'm about five months gone already

Good Luck for your scan; it's an amazing experience
