12 week scan after mmc

I have my 12 week scan this week and I am absolutely terrified. A year ago after having had 2 scans at 7 and 8 weeks all fine I found out the baby had stopped growing at 10+2 when I was 13 weeks along. I just cannot shake the feeling of history repeating itself.

How common are two mmc in a row? I had a scan at 8 weeks this time but given what happened last time it feels like no reassurance

Orzo15 I want to wish you the very best of luck for your scan this week. Two MMC in a row is quite rare. You will see lots of ladies on here who have had more than one MMC in a row but you need to keep in mind that we are all, in the main, on these sites because we have had issues and there are many many people who have a miscarriage or a missed miscarriage and go on to have a perfectly healthy pregnancy next time round.
There are of course a myriad of reasons why pregnancy fails and there is never any guaranteed certainly with anything in life. Keep in mind that the chances of everything being absolutely fine are much higher than things not being fine.
Having had an MMC myself last year I completely understand how you are feeling and doubtless I will be the same if and when I get to that point. That said I do have other issues that I have found out since so I am aware that things may not go as I hope. I am sure everything will be fine nothing in life is certain but I am so holding your hand on this one and thinking of you. Let us know how it goes.

@orzo15 hi op , try to distract yourself as best you can to ease your mind.
I know its not easy. I had a miscarriage last year and I'm now currently 16 weeks.
I've had scans at 8, 10, 13 and 15 weeks and everytime I just panic beforehand convincing myself something has happened. Try to stay positive

@orzo15 I have my 12 week scan tomorrow and am in a similar situation to you. I was slightly further along last time.
I have had 3 early scans that look positive.
I am petrified for tomorrow.
My husband can't be there as he starts a new job tomorrow too. Mum will be there, though.
Someone on here said to me 'today I am pregnant' that is how I am moving forward, one slow day at a time.
Virtual hand hold for your scan. 💛

Thank you @Objectiontime and @NightSkyWanderer it's reassuring to speak about it with those who understand. It's so stressful going through pregnancy after loss, and especially with mmc I feel you lose trust in your body. I will try and keep busy until Thursday and update after the scan. Really appreciate the handhold, I'm doing this as a single mum by choice so it can feel like a lonely road sometimes.

@Isthisrealomgwow best of luck for your scan tomorrow, sending you a virtual handhold as well ❤️ It is so scary but 3 early scans is very positive.

It's not that common. Good luck, hope everything appears great on the scan

orzo15 · 29/01/2024 18:23

Thanks @orzo15.
All seemed well, NT measurement was 1.7mm so well in normal range, heart beat was good.
Had the blood test done.
It's just waiting now!

I had an mmc and a previous bad early scan experience and I'm waiting until 12 weeks too. Even most mmcs will have bleeding at some point so it's a very good sign you've got to 12 weeks with no bleeding

orzo15 · 01/02/2024 16:25

Just to update this, had my scan this morning and everything went well ❤️ almost couldn't believe it, I had hyped myself up for bad news!
