Cramping week 4

Hi, I am only 4 weeks pregnant. This evening I leant over to give my 3 year old a hug when he was in bed and I felt a sharp pain in my very lower right hand side of abdomen, near my hip. Since then I have felt very crampy and achey. Is this normal? I don't remember this last time and as usual I'm terrified of miscarriage as its so early on. It feels like period pain. I only found out I was pregnant on Saturday when I missed my period. Thank you.

Period pain is really normal at this stage, it’s your uterus starting to stretch. If there’s no heavy bleeding I wouldn’t worry.

Thank you for your reply. No bleeding at the moment but feels uncomfortable/achey.

The only thing I could see online was about round ligament pain but that said it's not until 12 weeks onwards.

Yeah I didn’t start getting proper round ligament pain until the second trimester. It could be a total coincidence that you bent the wrong way and pulled something, and then noticed the crampy pain! I honestly had period pains on and off for the whole first trimester.

Perfectly normal. I had lots of cramping, I mean lots and severe. I'm currently 15 weeks and still have odd cramps.

It's likely just your womb stretching

Thank you for the reassurance. It's so nerve wracking in the early days!

Week 4 and 5 I had all sorts of pains. I was doing some gardening and felt my uterus constantly with some cramped aches. It’s all part of the deal, don’t worry.
