Extending maternity leave

I gave birth 6 weeks ago and was planning to go back to work next month. I would now like to extend my maternity a further month but obviously can't give 8 weeks notice. Can I do this?

You’re best speaking to your employer about your options. Some employers are more flexible than others and won’t worry about the 15/8 weeks to go onto/extend maternity.
