C Section stitch/knot

Just looking for some advice/past experience really.

I had an Emergency C-Section 5 weeks ago. Recovery has been pretty smooth, the external scar has healed and isn't causing me any bother. Getting around is fine and I feel like I'm able to do most things now, if a little bit slowly.

The thing that's bugging me is the side where they knotted the stitches. The very corner is still scabbed over and it looks as though the actual suture knot is still there. I keep getting stingy feelings from that side, I thought the knot was maybe catching on clothing but having looked at it tonight, I'm not sure whether it's digging into the skin instead.

Just wondered if the knotted section of the scar took longer to heal for anyone else? Did it fall off or do I need to get it removed? Has anyone removed it themselves and how did that go?

I had similar and as they were dissolvable stitches it just fell off after a while. No harm in calling the midwife if you haven’t been discharged yet to have a look if you’re worried

I had this and I went to get it removed at the hospital. They pulled it gently and it basically just fell off. Mine was infected but cleared up quickly with antibiotics.

@Lxii62 be sure it isn't a scan before touching it. My scar had a scan until maybe 8 weeks on the side where the stitches were knotted and that is the side that is pretty much invisible now and has healed better than the rest. Go see your GP / midwife... the hospital might even see you as you're not far out of the weeks where you can still go to the maternity unit. Give them a call maybe.

Yep mine was still there definitely at 6 weeks PP. it was really annoying me. I eventually I pulled it out, but it was light tugging that I’d been doing for a good few days after the shower and then one day it just came out. Probably best to see a MW or GP if you can, mine weren’t interested !
