UTI?

Hi all, I’m currently experiencing symptoms of a uti whilst 5 weeks pregnant. I know it needs medical attention however I’m unable to get in to see my GP and I’m unsure where else I can get help from. Just wondering has anybody else been able to get rid of a uti without antibiotics? Thank you!

My UTI always got so bad and painful that I have to get antibiotics is there another doctor you could go see ? I wouldn't be leaving an infection untreated while pregnant x

I have uti's all the time and my gp is a nightmare to get an appointment. The last 3 times they have changed my antibiotic (after I got it and paid the prescription) They always start with Trimethoprim because it's the most often used and it's also the cheapest to prescribe (not for me when i have to change it). They have changed it both times to tetracycline, which I discovered you can buy online and get delivered to your door. I do this now and don't bother with the gp. I have to tell a white lie about the purpose because you can't buy it for a uti but it costs between £15-£17 and comes to my flat so cheaper and more convenient for me. I've done this for the past year. You'd need to check it's ok in pregnancy first though. Hth

Hi thank you for reply, yes I’ve managed to get some online from the Superdrug online doctor, they are giving me nitrofurantoin, it says it’s safe with pregnancy, have you tried it? Only if the doctors make me t more easier to get seen! Xx

I actually took it before I knew I was pregnant I got a horrible uti abroad and could buy it over the counter there my GP said it was fine after I found out I was actually pregnant .

did Anybody notice any discomfort in the bladder and pelvic area in early pregnancy? I’m trying work out what’s normal and what’s not, it’s very hard to know when I’m not able to see a midwife yet! X
