23 weeks pregnant - fetal heart rate too quick??

Today I'm 23 weeks pregnant, I told my midwife that the last few days I noticed my movements had slowed down a bit, so she thought it was best to have a wee listen with the doppler. The baby was active but his heart rate was 170. They sent me for a scan to check everything was ok, which it was, everything was measuring perfect, and everything looked ok, she didn't seem too concerned that his heart rate was still sitting at 170.
Anyway I've to go back next week for a more in-depth scan just to make sure everything is ok.
I'm just looking for reassurance really 🤦🏻‍♀️ has anyone ever been through this? And did they get to the bottom of what was causing the high heart rate? I'm really anxious and struggling to relax 🤦🏻‍♀️

Had you eaten chocolate or caffeine prior to the scan?

I am really surprised at this as my baby was always around 173 and noone ever mentioned it? Very healthy happy 1 year old

@sockmuncher no caffeine or chocolate. I hadn't eaten yet, they asked me to go eat and come back in an hour, I had some scrambled eggs and went back and was still in the 170's.

@Arthurnewyorkcity oh really? This has calmed me down a bit. They did mention that it could be his "normal" but that they'd need to keep monitoring it. Was just a really worrying day today...I'm shocked that they didn't mention anything, but that's really good, and now you have a healthy one year old too, great news 🥰

DD always sat between 150-170

During a scan check up her HR shot to 220(ish) and I got rushed to theatre for EMCS.

It then suddenly went back to normal.
I stayed in hospital then with monitoring and she often went up to 200ish sometimes higher.

She was born ELCS at 37 weeks.
She has always had a slightly tachy heart that runs a bit quick.

I have LONG QT and SVT so she had many ECGs to check and hers is fine, she doesn't have LQTS or SVT, all good.

So I'm surprised you've been referred for that heart rate as it seems quite normal!

Try not to worry op, I know easier said that done when growing a little one but they're clearly keeping a close eye on things :) but for lots or babies it's definitely normal, especially if they're busy moving in there! Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy

Thanks everyone. I have a scan next Thursday so maybe the wee guy would have calmed down by then but this has really reassured me. ☺️
