I looked into it but didn't go ahead with it after. The turnaround time I was given was 7/10 days.

Mine came back after about a week.

LouiseandLuna · 16/01/2024 16:26

Mine came back in 3 days and this was just before Christmas! I guess it also partly depends on the clinic on where you get them done and how many things you are getting tested for the basic safe 3 or 5 comes quickest

Thanks. Had mine on sat. They said 2-5 working days so 🤞🤞🤞

Mine took 4 working days. Imagine you'll get yours tomorrow or Friday. Good luck!

Hi all, sorry to reopen the thread but I'm wondering what test you selected?

We went for the Karyo Plus and it's been 9 days, I'm starting to get itchy 😂

Hi, I’m looking at PrenatalSAFE Karyo Plus NIPT Blood Test. How did you get on? @CTak

CTak · 14/10/2024 09:53

@lynseylou1983 Hey! It was an overall good experience. It ended up being a long process for us as unfortunately they send the blood to their lab in Italy for the more comprehensive NIPTs like the Karyo Plus. This adds at least five days onto the waiting time. With the first sample we sent, I got a call two weeks later saying that the fetal fraction (% of fetal DNA in my blood sample) was too low, so I'd have to wait till past 13 weeks and redo the blood sample. This can't be helped, wasn't their fault. But at the time it was really stressful, especially as they said I'd have to wait another two weeks for the results rather than them rushing them through as priority no 1 (which I would absolutely expect for a test that costs £800). I spoke with the test coordinator in the UK at Goodbody and he was very good at speeding it up. I ended up getting the results 7 days after sending the new sample, not 14.

The report you get back is a bit lacking in detail, unlike other NIPTs. It just says "negative" for all screened issues, rather than giving you numbers/odds. Obviously a great result, but again, for £800 I'd expect a little more information. Finding out the fetal sex this way is well worth it - having heard horror stories I wouldn't trust finding out the sex before 20 weeks with an ultrasound!

So overall, yes I would recommend, especially doing it through Goodbody where their chap can poke at the lab in Italy for you. But I would also recommend waiting till you're at least 12/13 weeks (rather than 10 as advertised) so you don't risk the low fetal fraction problem I had. The waiting is a killer.

@Bells3032 thanks for responding! Sorry my mushy brain didn’t notice this was from last year!! I’m considering prenatalsafe (vs panorama which i know takes ages) also. The options are just a bit overwhelming! Congrats on baby girl and hope teddy’s ear is alright!
