IUI

I am a single woman, mid 30s and for the last couple of years, I have been considering IUI. I’m unsure where to start really, aside from googling clinics in the UK and then hearing that European clinics are better. Can anyone share a really basic explanation / experience of IUI based on a single women undergoing it?

Hi all!

First time poster, desperate for some words of wisdom and advice.

My Partner and I recently underwent our 2nd natural IUI using donor, and I am currently 11 DPO.

I am going absolutely stir crazy! I have experienced symptoms that I was sure were pregnancy symptoms, but have tested on cheap supermarket own brands at both 10DPO and 11DPO both BFNs :( AF is due on Tuesday.

My symptoms have been basically ongoing since the procedure but I’m not sure if I’m just too much in my own head.

My symptoms have been as follows;

  • Cramping- under my ribcage and around my bellybutton area.
  • Nausea- but this seems to have tapered off the last couple of days unless I’ve just eaten.
  • Reduced appetite- I can still eat just not looking forward to meals as much.
  • Tender boobs, my right nipple seems to be itchy but not painful as such.
  • CM- however discharge seems to have reduced in the last couple of days so concerned this is because AF is en-route.
  • Today (11 dpo) I have been an emotional wreck, a bit yesterday too. I’m crying over almost nothing, and this never happens when AF is due, moody yes, emotional wreck no.
  • Ive also had some very odd symptoms that I’m not sure are relevant; Sore throat at 10DPO, stuffy nose, sore neck at 10DPO, and the most odd is pain the arches of my feet despite not doing anything that would cause this.

Can anyone relate to this and had BFNs at 11dpo but went on to get a BFP eventually?

My parter has been great, but I feel like I need some wisdom from here.

I’m so desperate for this!

Sorry I can't offer much advice as I am right at the beginning of the journey still researching IUI. Hopefully some others will be along with advice for you.

Can I please ask did you have the IUI in the UK or overseas? I am looking at EU but purely as it seems a lot cheaper than UK

I’m in the UK and it doesn’t seem that EU is cheaper, plus there were most options to buy sperm samples from the European Sperm Bank.

I’m sure it’ll all work out for us both in the end, but I’m honestly just going crazy right now! 😫

Thank you. I know, it does seem from reading other threads that it is really quite a journey. Sending good thoughts your way and fingers crossed for you. I am looking at a clinic in Denmark which seemed a fair bit cheaper than in Scotland but I will do more research as would much prefer to have IUI in the UK to save hassle and cost of travel.

Have you been on your fertility journey for some time? How did you find the treatment of you don't mind me asking?

Sorry that was supposed to say EU DOES l seem cheaper 🙂

Were on our second round but started the process in July. It’s been a rollercoaster. I’m at a clinic is Glasgow and they’ve been amazing so far, I think if this cycle is unsuccessful I’ll be making use of their counselling service too. No complaints re clinic :D The treatment itself, it’s straightforward and non invasive, but I did feel discomfort for a day or so after.

Good luck in your journey, it’s a rollercoaster but sending good vibes your way :)

Thanks and here's hoping this round for you is successful. I am Glasgow based too
