Period after miscarriage

Hi Ladies

I had a miscarriage on Tuesday& Wednesday I bled a lot, went in on Thursday as I was already booked in for the surgical removal of the MMC. Surgery done and they told me
i must of passed most of the tissues the day before, but they have taken out the rest.
From Thursday evening after the surgery, I have had no bleeding at all!! just tiny bit of spotting.

anyway, my question is when will my period come? Anyone that has been through the same, how was your cycle after
your miscarriage ? Thank you!

Hi OP, so sorry for your loss.

I had surgical management for a MMC on 18th December and tested negative on 27th Dec. I think I ovulated around New Year (not temping or OPK-ing, just going by EWCM), so should be due AF in the next couple of days, but I think it varies for everyone.

I think it depends how quickly your pregnancy hormones drop back to zero. I found out that I’d had/was having a MMC on 4th December and my pregnancy tests were already fading then (I took one the day before for ‘reassurance’), so I’m assuming that’s why I got a negative so soon after surgery.

Wishing you all the very best with your recovery x

Ah so sorry for your loss too! I’ve gone through it this week. I’m a bit confused why I’m literally not bleeding since after the surgery?! I did bleed quite a bit the day before the surgery though.
I was only told to take a pregnancy test after 3 weeks. Just really confused on when I should ovulate next/ period due 😅 Thank you for your response though x

Maybe it’s to do with how much you passed before surgery? I had ups and downs of bleeding and brown discharge beforehand but nothing happened on its own, so maybe had more bleeding to do afterwards? I think it varies so much from woman to woman. Take care xx

@Kmgxx Hey OP 👋🏼 Sending lots of hugs and healing your way ❤️‍🩹 It's such a rubbish situation 😞 We had a MMC and I had a D&C on the 10th of October... I bled for a couple of days and then stopped 🙏🏼 I think when they do the procedure (as gross as it sounds I think they suck/scrape most of everything out) so I don't think there's much else to come out blood wise 🤔 That's how I thought about it anyway 🧐 I was an unlucky one who tested positive for about 6 weeks after, was awful seeing those pesky faint lines... but they eventually disappeared 🙏🏼

Got my first period exactly 1 month later on the 10th of November, then started tracking ovulation with OPK's (I did get a positive OPK mid cycle) Had another period on the 6th of December and then managed to fall pregnant with our rainbow 🌈 I am currently just over 5 weeks now!

Take all the time you need to heal and process 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹 You will get your rainbow Mama 🌈 Sending lots of baby dust your way ✨

Hi my love! Thank you for your response. Sounds very reassuring! What us women have to go through hey..
Congratulations on your rainbow! I hope everything goes well & healthy ❤️
Fine so I’ll buy some pregnancy tests to track when the line disappears and hopefully my period comes back as usual!
What OPK do you use? The ones I have I don’t think are any good. I really hope for a 2024 baby 🥰 xxx

I know it sucks so much and the world is so unfair 😞🙏🏼 I was having very strong dye stealers the day before my MMC still, so that may be why my tests took longer to go negative, they said my body still thought I was pregnant, so as the lady above said it may take less time for yours to fade out 🙏🏼 I have known friends who have been in our situation and theirs have disappeared at the 3 week mark.

Here's the link to the ones I've always used, nice and cheap too;

50 x One Step Highly Sensitive... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001G7STT0?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

I wish you all the best going forward 🫶🏻 Please keep this thread updated if you can as to how you get on 🌈✨❤️‍🩹

Thank you!!
I also have these ones! How do you use them to track ovulation correctly? Maybe I haven’t been doing it right. ❤️

So general rule of thumb is to start testing with the sticks twice a day from around 5 days after your period... but it all depends on when you usually roughly ovulate! I tended to have a 28-30ish cycle and would usually ovulate around the 14 day mark, give or take! So I would start testing around cycle day 10 twice a day and watch the sticks get gradually darker.... you want the control line to be as dark if not darker than the control line to be classed as a positive 🙏🏼 We usually did the deed as my tests got darker and then for a couple days after we got a positive... they say once you've got that positive you ovulate 12 - 36 hours after 🥰 I hope that half makes sense, I'm not the best at explaining these things haha!

Here's a couple photos of my tests... the two strip photo are negative and the other is positive 🥰 I know everyone is different though, I saw online quite a few ladies not getting as dark, but I think as long as your tests are darkening then it's a good sign ✨🌈 xx

Ohhhhhhhhh!! Okay! Got ya 😃
I was doing it completely wrong/ or wasn’t committed to doing it everyday so I never noticed the lines getting darker. So I gave up. I will do it the way you said now to learn a bit more about my cycle. Thank you for explaining 😊
I haven’t had any trouble so far falling pregnant but these are handy to know when the time for the deed is right as I don’t want to waste any time. This was my first time falling pregnant, unfortunately ending in a miscarriage, but I had sex in my fertile window and there it was... I was pregnant 🥹 so I really hope after I get my period I won’t have any problems trying again. Thank you!! Xxxx

I'm so sorry for your loss x

I've had two MMC
One I passed naturally and the other was medicated. Both periods returned between 38/45 days later
