Hi all
had second sweep today after one on Tuesday. On Tuesday midwife said cervix was effecated and I was 2-3cm dilated with bulging membrane. My sweep was followed by a lot of immediate bleeding so I was sent to be monitored. All fine and sent home. I had a second sweep today, pretty much the same but now 4cm dilated. Was sent for monitoring again because of bleeding, this time I was also examined by a consultant. Whilst I was there I felt mild contractions and have had what feels like constant period pain and some back pain since. Contractions did not continue.
the consultant told me that there should not be anymore blood than ‘spitting’ in the pad. When I got home there was a lot of blood but this was also mixed with stringy mucus like substance which I know is normal. Since then I am still passing some red blood which I would say is more than spotting. However I’m reluctant to go back to the hospital as they have ruled out the bleeding being anything to do with the baby and said it more likely I have something on my vaginal wall that’s being irritated.
the consultant advised no further sweeps which I’m glad about
what is your opinion on the blood on the pad? Is this normal? Sorry I know it’s not nice to look at!
