Anyone know what time they take the first patient when you're booked in for an elective section?

I've to go to hospital at 7.30am. Just wondered if anyone knows what time they typically take the first person down to theatre as long as there's no emergencies or anything

Not sure but bumping as this might be me soon. Do you know where you are on the list?

Mumoftwo1312 · 11/01/2024 22:44

They have to talk to everyone and fill out forms and do observations, then have a team meeting to decide the order. I think it was about 8.45ish. I think I was third, I went in about 11.

Good luck and I hope it goes well - my ELCS went incredibly well compared to my EMCS, I hope yours goes as smoothly.

You won't know where you are on the list till the day. They only told me when I was next. I remember how nervous I was! But it went fine!

Mumoftwo1312 · 11/01/2024 22:46

Ps they also do a quick ultrasound of everyone to determine the lie. And the consent forms etc, it takes a while. If your nerves can stand it, bring a magazine as there's lots of waiting. I was too nervous so dh and I just stared into space nervously for a couple of hours lol

@Ididivfama - thanks :) I'm not sure where I am on the list but I was in today for my pre-op appointment and it was only me and one other woman waiting so possibly only 2 of us booked in

I think that was the time I was in. There was a good bit of waiting before I got a bed but I'd only sat on it and was called. They checked baby was still breech first. I was first in and baby born at 10.13am

spackleplumb · 11/01/2024 22:47

I'm not sure exactly but I know I was first on the list with our elective section and baby was born at 9:49am. Hope it all goes well for you and baby.

Ididivfama · 11/01/2024 22:48

Oh wow good luck!

flowerpot258 · 11/01/2024 22:48

@Mumoftwo1312 thanks for the info. I'm hoping I'm first but I know I might not be but 8.45am for the first person sounds decent

I’m always first on the list and go down at 8.45am. Baby usually arrives between 9.15 and 9.45 depending on the anaesthetist.
Never had an ultrasound on
the day either.
Best of luck!
