Hey, hope everyone is doing ok! I am due to have my 12 week scan next Friday however I’ve been really suffering with anxiety this week and worrying that everything is ok (think it is where my nausea has eased off slightly) and now I’m worrying if everything is ok. I was going to book a private scan for tomorrow just to put my mind at ease but it says you should leave 2 weeks between scans. Has anyone had 2 scans a week apart? And do you think it will be ok? I’ve had a look online and it says there is no evidence to suggest it causes any harm to the baby but just what they advise. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you

@polly1333 Keeping scans two weeks apart is purely so that they can see definite growth. One week or less apart is now going to show much change between scans, if that makes sense, as the baby is so small :)

Personally, I'd wait, but I know how bad anxiety can be. I had scans at 7, 9, 10+5 (for a NIPT) and then 12 with this one 😅

when I had my 20 week scan something came up and I had to be rescanned 3 days later. I know that you can have them the next day and it’s not a problem.

ultrasounds have consistently been proven to be safe in pregnancy.

Hi @polly1333

I really understand the anxiety and I was super anxious throughout my pregnancy. I ended up having a lot of early scans due to bleeding but did keep them 2 weeks apart just so there was more obvious growth etc to be seen. In terms of having another scan less than 2 weeks after your prior I can’t see why you couldn’t book for one as I was told there is no risk to baby, although you may not see a great difference in growth if that makes sense. Between 8-12 weeks I believe the placenta takes over so could very well be why your sickness has eased. Really do understand the anxiety and I hope everything works out well for you and your pregnancy! x
