15 days into my cycle and still no sign of a positive OPK

Hello!

we’re on month 6th of trying for baby #2. We fell pretty quickly with my son, two months to be exact… but this time is taking longer.

I decided to “take it more seriously” last month and from what I gathered from opks I didn’t ovulate.

Im now on cycle day 15 - started testing on the 1st of January…. And I can’t see there being a positive result 🫠😭 loosing all hope.

My cycle last month was 4 days early, which was unusual, putting that and the no ovulation down to Christmas stress.

my cycle is like clockwork normally, I know my body pretty well, so this is coming as a shock, and I hate thinking that my body isn’t doing what it should be.

apparently you can have a period without ovulating.. so feeling very confused

anyway, not sure what to do?
is there anything that can trigger ovulation, or is it just a matter of waiting.

They are getting darker, I suspect ovulation is coming. The peak can be very short so you might have just missed it last month. What time of day do you test?

Don't lose hope!

I’ve tested three times today and it’s already 9.13 💕🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ haha.

but normally at 7am-6pm!

I hope so 😭

Have you tried scanning the tests using the Premom app? Takes the guesswork out of it. But your most recent test looks like my peak, which is usually around CD 16 or 17.

Saxfie2021 · 09/01/2024 09:47

It says it’s 0.37 LOW - tried scanning it in a few lights which just kept saying low? Not sure how accurate that app is. X

Maybe you're over testing in that case, you'll struggle to get a positive if you pee so often! Don't test first thing in the morning if you're struggling to get a positive, your hormone levels are lowest overnight (opposite to pregnancy tests!)

The hormone needs time to build up in your system, try up to a four hour hold if you can manage it and then test. I'd say ideally if you are following normal waking hours, test at around 10 or 11am after at least a couple of hours hold then again at around 5 or 6pm after at least a couple of hours hold. If you are getting a peak this way you should not miss it.

I will hold tomorrow! Try and hold my wee till 9/10ish, as I’m up at 6.30… will then see what it says. Thank you for all the info, super useful xxx

I could never manage to catch my peak but got very close on a 4 hour hold. I'd wee at 10 and then test at 2 then hold again til 6 and test again seemed to work well.

I think an anovulatory cycle where you don't ovulate is longer than a normal cycle as sometimes your body tries to ovulate again. A shorter cycle would suggest to me that you did ovulate.

I just started DTD when the tests were around where yours are now and stopped when the tests went faint again. Worked for me 3 times now!

LavenderSweetPea · 09/01/2024 10:46

Good luck, and let us know how you get on tomorrow! Also like I said don't panic, ovulation can be hard to catch for some people.

I always did morning and afternoon after a hold and whilst I usually got a positive eventually (my cycles were super irregular so sometimes not until day 20 or 30) I didn't get a positive every cycle even with all the testing. I fell pregnant on one of the cycles I didn't get a positive so I must have missed the peak somewhere along the line.

I know not everyone is a fan of them but I found the clear blue digital ovulation tests very useful so maybe try them. The ones which tell you your fertile days in the lead up to ovulation as well as ovulation peak.

Kirstylvsya · 09/01/2024 15:32

Keep going. I don't ovulate until CD21. What day do you get your period?

JMPB · 09/01/2024 16:09

It looks like your about to hit your peak :)
we’ve just started tracking ovulation again this month (to prevent pregnancy - using pull out and condoms) as I wanted to come off my pill ready for ttc later in the year.
my cycle started before Xmas and I’ve only just had my peak today on CD 21 - period usually due in a few days.
keep testing, I’m sure you’ll get it in the next day or 2 x

I got a smiley on my clear blue test today!!!! Woooo ✨✨✨✨✨

so, if my test is a smiley, does that mean I’m going to release an egg in the next 24 hours? Xxx

Don’t worry about it, I didn’t ovulate until CD31 when we conceived the baby I’m currently pregnant with! Some women have just a slightly different cycle than others
