9 weeks brown discharge

9 weeks 6 days and brown discharge on wiping this morning :( Had early scan 2 days ago and saw baby and heartbeat. What should I do? Wait? Ring? Anyone got any experiences?

Was the early scan an internal? That could cause some spotting.

Have you had sex or exercised recently? I had brown spotting after both of those about 8 weeks (now almost 13 weeks). My midwife said I only need to call if it's bright red and if it's brown then likely just a sensitive cervix. If you have severe cramping alongside it then I would worry but if it's just brown discharge and no pain then I would try not to worry ❤️ but I know much easier said than done, if you would feel better talking to a midwife then give them a call and I'm sure they'll be able to reassure you! First trimester is always pretty stressful with all these things 💝 take care!

Ring up, do you have a EPAU locally? Does it open at weekend?

No pain and just on wiping.

At 9 weeks the EPU would see you, I would call them for another scan. Although I had some brown on and off up to 14 weeks and all was fine.

No EPAU so guess I’d have to ring 111.

I would try midwives first they may be more helpful than 111

Are you sure there’s no EPAU? You can self refer to a lot of them

No EPAU that I can see. Just says to contact midwives, GP or 111. Have left message for midwife.

I had brown blood at around 9 weeks in my second pregnancy. First ended in miscarriage so was very stressed. It ended up not being anything and had an otherwise normal pregnancy. I googled like hell at the time and many people said if it was brown it was likely to be old blood.

Feeling low today. Still got brown discharge/spotting and had a weird brown jelly thing too which may have just been discharge tinged with blood but meh. Also don’t feel nauseous anymore. Not looking great.
Rang midwife who said to ring gp when it’s open Monday or 111 if I wanted to. Don’t fancy sitting in an and e all day so will probably see how things go and ring gp tomorrow and/ arrange a private scan.

Theres nothing that can be said to help you feel reassured as I suspect that you kind of know in your heart where this is going.
That said, there are lots of posts on here with women having similar symptoms then going on to have a healthy pregnancy.

It looks like you have a plan at least.

@Mc36 Hello wanted to jump on and let you know I have had the same thing! I am 9w 2d and since the 22nd December I have had brown discharge, only when I wipe and pretty much every day. It varies from light brown to dark brown, it’s not usually a lot. I too was worried about it but I had a private scan yesterday and baby looks great, measured right on track and could even see baby moving. They found a small subchorionic hematoma outside the pregnancy sac measuring 13mm, that is likely what is causing the discharge. I hope this gives you some hope that it might be ok ❤️ wishing you all the best

5 days later of brown spotting. Private scan today and all is well 😊 They said it may have been caused by the umbilical cord forming.

I’ve experienced brown discharge this morning. I’m 9 weeks 2 days.

how is everything going for you? Did it continue? I’ve got to go early pregnancy unit on Monday

I’m 16 weeks. I had it a couple more times after this too but no real explanation came from it and all fine so far. Hope all continues to go well for you too.
