Baby breech at 34 weeks. Did baby turn for you?

At my 32 weeks midwife appointment she thought baby was breech/possibly transverse and said she would review at 36 weeks and send me for a scan if baby still presents the same way.

I am feeling kicks and what feels like fingers and toes very low down and there is an obvious head below my ribs! I have been looking into exercises but just wondered if anyone had a similar experience and baby did indeed turn?

Never had this with my two sons who were both head down by this stage!

Thank you xx

Yes with DD2 she went from breach to transverse right up until 36 weeks then went head down and bobbed In and out of being engaged until I was induced

HottestEverRecordedTemperature · 04/01/2024 20:32

Yes ds1. We got to two days before they were going to attempt a manual turn( I don’t know if they do that now… it was 14 years ago) and he turned. I was sitting watching tv and he turned around in about 10 mins. I was watching my stomach and it was extraordinary!

barkymcbark · 04/01/2024 20:33

Yes, mine dd was breach until 36 weeks but moved by the time I gave birth, she was 3 days early

Mischance · 04/01/2024 20:35

All 3 of mine were breech and were turned by ECV, and I went on to successful vaginal births.

NotARealWookiie · 04/01/2024 20:37

I was breech at 32 and baby turned by 34

Sdpbody · 04/01/2024 20:37

I ended up with a c section as my DD didn't turn. It turns out, I had no fluid, and DD had to come early at 36w.

raysofhope · 04/01/2024 20:39

My breach baby was turned manually at 38 weeks (this was in 2018), slightly uncomfortable but did the trick and he came out the right way (2 weeks later)!

WorriedMillie · 04/01/2024 20:45

DD was suspected breech (based on exam) at 36 weeks, but turned herself before the presentation scan, while I was in the bath watching!

Numbersarefun · 04/01/2024 20:50

Mine turned. Very peculiar watching it! I think I hung upside down over the bed or something.

FoxtrotSkarloey · 04/01/2024 20:53

NO!

And I tired everything possible. Swimming, moxibustion, crawling about on hands and knees, an ECV.

My c section was absolutely fine.

Whatsthestorynow · 04/01/2024 20:54

My DD refused to turn (makes sense now knowing her character!) but I had an ECV at around 39 weeks I think & had a vaginal delivery at 41 weeks.

PickledScrump · 04/01/2024 20:55

Yes also with my third. Until 37 weeks and she turned on her own, never felt a thing. I did a lot of the exercises on spinning babies.

YellowWiggle · 04/01/2024 20:55

They kept telling me she was breach but at each scan she was head down! The midwives kept saying her butt was her head 🤣

Overandabove1 · 04/01/2024 23:04

My 2nd was breech right up to 36 week appointment so was booked for ecv the following week at 37 weeks. Was scanned before ecv and he had turned himself in the week!

Dyra · 04/01/2024 23:35

Yup! My second was found to be breech (back to back too) at a scan at 36 weeks.

According to the sonographer seconds onwards are more likely to turn late as the uterus had been stretched before. I had an ECV booked for 37+2, but it wasn't needed as a scan (there was a question if I should be allowed to have an ECV at all) the morning of 36+6 showed he'd flipped.

I'd been in hospital since the day after the scan, and didn't feel the flip happen. I was having daily dopplers and CTG monitoring and the midwives all thought he was still breech. So I suspect it happened the evening if 36+5 after the final check.

Wound up with a C-section anyway. He remained back to back, tried to look where he was going, and got stuck as a result.

Thanks all! Very interesting to read everyone's experiences.

If you remember, what did it feel like when baby turned?

My ds flip-flopped until 37 weeks. He was finally born naturally, head down at 40+5, weighing 8lb so not huge.

He liked to turn at night. I'd be woken up in the early hours with him kicking my diaphragm, bladder, anything he could reach. Then he'd settle for a day until the next turn.

tulipsunday · 06/01/2024 10:13

Mine was breech at 34wks and had turned by 36. Didn't feel a big turn so was surprised to hear he was head down. Did some side lying releases and forward learning inversions (you tube videos were helpful)

babythreeincoming · 06/01/2024 12:59

Went for a scan this morning and baby is head down! Maybe he was always this way or turned recently... either way good news and hopefully he doesn't budge now 😂🤞🏼

Good news OP!

Dyra · 06/01/2024 20:20

Great news! Fx he stays that way now!
