Hi

does anyone have any knowledge on baby scans and able to confirm whether you think this is a boy?

My consultant at the hospital said it’s impossible to tell gender at 16 weeks and they all look like boys which has now got me worried that it could be wrong.

thank you!!

I’m really surprised your consultant said that because they absolutely can tell at 16 weeks so long as baby is in the right position, hence why all the private sex scans are offered from 16 weeks, including ones done by private OBs not just those baby bond type places. I knew from 11 weeks because I had the NIPT but I had a scan at 16 weeks and asked the consultant to check just in case, and he did, and it was correct! As for your scan pic I don’t really know what I’m looking but I definitely don’t see the 3 lines for a girl so I’m guessing boy is likely correct. Congratulations!

Yes odd thing to say. They can actually have a pretty good guess at the sex at 12 weeks and can defo tell at 16 weeks

You can see at 16 weeks but they can be wrong, it’s not that rare to be told the wrong sex. It does look like a boy but there’s also 3 lines which is indicative of a girl so I’d wait until 20 week scan before getting anything

Your consultant is somehow grossly misinformed. Genitals are formed enough from 14 weeks to be able to tell the sex. At 16 weeks the accuracy is pretty good, more than 90% I think. I had mine done at about 15 weeks.

The place I got my gender scan done did them from 14 weeks. It depends on the quality of equipment and baby position.

I am rubbish at these but from that pic it looks the cursed is just above the testicle and the penis is just underneath.. I've had gender scans with all my 4 boys at 16 weeks, one at 15 and they could clearly tell. From what I've read if they get it wrong ita usually because they see girl but it turns out to be a boy x

My consultant correctly identified my twin girls at 14.5 weeks. I was living overseas so healthcare was private and even the scans were done by the obgyn
