reverse flow ductus

Hello!

My name is Zoe I am from Spain.
Yesterday I had my 12-week echography and everything was going well (perfect nuchal fold, nasal bone, etc.) all the parameters were fine until the ductus venosus arrived and told me it had reverse flow.
The gynecologist did not give it much importance since if it were associated with increased Nuchal Translucency or absence of nasal bone it would be worrying but she told me that it is common and that in 80 percent of cases it resolves on its own. It slightly increases the risk of SD or heart malformations, but that didn't worry me.
I couldn't help it, I have read 20 thousand things, in the end it is true that as a predictor of chromosomal alterations it is associated with increased TN, but I can't stop thinking about it...
I'm going to do the fetal DNA test, no matter what the risk is, but we have to see the next echo from week 16 where he told me to see if the heart continues to form well .
Since I have private insurance and have the right to a second medical opinion and my gynecologist has told me that sometimes the ductus venosus is very inaccurate and confusing to measure, on Monday they repeat the 12 week echo at a different center.
I just wanted to ask you about similar experiences. It is my first pregnancy, and honestly the wait is very distressing.

thanks!!!

Hi @Zoe87 , we had our NT scan yesterday and the doc reported exactly the same issue, all other parameters are normal except the A wave reverse flow in DV. We are worried and thinking of having a second opinion. Please update your progress

Hi,

I had a private scan on Wednesday at 10 weeks 4 days. Due to 2 previous pregnancies ending in early miscarriage.

The sonographer said she was happy with everything but I noticed something behind the baby’s neck which I asked about she then explained that it was Nuchal translucency and went on to explain what this could mean. She said she wouldn’t measure it as it isn’t measured until 11 weeks. However, for me it seemed very noticeable and quite big compared to others I’ve been researching. I’m going out of my mind with worry.and the thought of the potential it could be breaks me. Is there anyone who has gone through similar and can offer some advice?!

hello.
Well, for now it had a good ending.
After spending several weeks very worried, since apart from the reverse flow of the ductus venosus, I obtained medium risk for down syndrome.
I had a fetal DNA test done and everything was correct. Last week I had a fetal echocardiogram and everything was fine, the gynecologist told me that the ductus was fine and that the heart looked great according to the time.
I hope what happened to me can reassure you.

hello.

You must trust the sonographer.
It may be too early to measure this parameter, which is why it is measured from week 12 onwards.
Rest assured, sometimes in ultrasounds we imagine things that are not true.
