Faint lines and now no lines but have pregnancy symptoms??????

Hi everyone! A few days ago I took some tests with the blue dye ones and got a two very very faint positives within 2 min. (Also my period is 10 days late) I have sore boobs, mild cramping and have been feeling extremely faint and dizzy. I even slept for 12 hours today. All my symptoms match up with pregnancy symptoms. In all my excitement I showed my husband the faint tests and I fear I got his hopes up :( I had a miscarriage at around 6-7 weeks in September and I don’t know what to do. I retook some tests today with pink dye and a strip and got negatives. Should I go take a blood test? The way I realized I wasn’t pregnant anymore in September was that my sore boobs stopped completely the next day and confirmed it when I had heavy bleeding. Although as of now I still have all my symptoms. Please help!!!

Sorry to say but at 10 days late I’d expect a positive test, even if they are faint, they’d still be positive.
I’m not very good with strip tests but did the lines come up within the timeframe?
I’d phone your gp and explain the situation, with being over a week late then hopefully they will do a blood test.

MotherofDogs3 · 03/01/2024 07:48

Sorry but blue dye tests are awful for evap lines (had many myself) and at 10 days late you would definitely have a very dark positive not faint.

falalalalalalalallama · 03/01/2024 07:51

I'd try a different test, and do it first thing in the morning, with your first pee of the day. It may be the first ones were more sensitive, or you had more pregnancy hormones in your urine due to the time of day.

I tested negative when I was late. Then later, tested positive, it's definitely possible.

cosylife · 03/01/2024 08:04

It looks like you’ve cracked open a digital test - all these have 2 lines even if you’re negative.

Always trust in pink dye tests - Clearblue are notorious for evaps and giving false hope.

As other posters have said, if you’re 10 days late that would make you around 5 weeks 3 days pregnant so would expect a strong line/positive.

I hope you get it sorted soon and get some answers. Pop your GP a call and ask for a blood test so you have a definitive yes or no.

naomimoc · 03/01/2024 16:19

Thank you everyone! I also got a first response that came with a strips as well. For whatever reason the pee in the morning is not working. Although when I test later in the afternoon I got faint lines again on the first response strips!

what is going on!

The blue dye tests are notorious for evap lines, if pink lines are showing as negative then it’s unlikely you are pregnant sorry. They really need to take the blue dyes off as they really mess with people’s emotions. At 10 days late you should be seeing clear lines at any time of day

naomimoc · 03/01/2024 18:23

Its kind of hard to see in the picture but i did a pink dye and there is a clear line there! Sadly I’m not sure why they aren’t progressing and getting darker as the days go on

Hi guys! I hope for some answers please, I miscarried on the 9th December and wasn’t actively TTC but wasn’t preventing it. I haven’t had a period and it is nearly coming up to a month since the miscarriage. I am 12dpo and this is evening urine and I’m not sure whether I’m seeing things or this is a positive.
btw - I tested and also got bloods done once the bleeding ended and it was negative so this can’t be anything left From the previous pregnancy. Any answers pls! Thank you

@naomimoc I see the line hun!! I had this with my first pregnancy he’s now a healthy 1 year old! They were getting fainter until 2 days after my missed period they then got darker! I got my BFP eventually

EverDecreasingStandards · 03/01/2024 18:41

@naomimoc that last picture doesn’t look positive I’m afraid. It’s grey and there’s a blank ish bit in the middle. A positive line would be a consistent line, and have more colour. Frer are also notorious for having dark indent lines that people mistake for positive. For 10 days late I would expect dark, obviously positive lines.

@AJI98 you really should start your own thread but I think I’d be hesitant to read that as positive. Re test in a couple of days. I’m sorry for your loss Flowers

Thank you so much! This is giving me hope!! I know that I am pregnant and I’m not going to let the lines make me stop believing this. I know my body best and I have not felt well the past couple of days!

Hi @naomimoc did you get your BFP?

naomimoc · 12/01/2024 06:04

Hi! No I have not but I definitely went down the rabbit hole of what’s going on. I decided that I would wait until my next period is supposed to arrive and if it’s doesn’t I will get a blood test. I know I am pregnant as I’m having food aversions, super emotional and my uterus feels like someone is stretching it out. It worried me a little when I got very sharp pains but my period is about 2 weeks late now. I read that this could actually be normal with twins and that could also be a reason that the tests are no longer showing up positive! I read that the hcg hormone shoots up with multiples so fingers crossed! My husband has twins on both sides of his family!

@naomimoc what you’re referring to is called the hook effect and if you dilute your urine with water it will then show darker on a test. People usually see a dark positive test followed by tests getting lighter with the hook effect. Unfortunately as none of your tests look positive and your symptoms aren’t necessarily pregnancy symptoms it seems unlikely you are pregnant. It’s really not unusual to have a late period or even to completely skip one.

AJI98 · 12/01/2024 09:44

Hi OP. I agree with @PickledScrump you’re two weeks late for your period you should have definitely picked up lines or a BFP by now. It seems unlikely that even with twins you wouldn’t have got a line earlier on in your testing period. Sorry!

Hiddenvoice · 12/01/2024 12:39

I would make an appointment with your Gp and ask for a blood test. Sorry to say but at 2 weeks late I’d expect a fairly positive test.

I have twins and my tests were all very positive from around 12 DPO. Unfortunately, I'd say that there's a reason other than pregnancy causing the delay in your period. In addition, your husband having twins on his side of the family can't influence you to have twins as fraternal twinning relates to hyperovulation (you would need to have the gene that causes that).

Jadex92x · 12/01/2024 13:58

@naomimoc aww I would have thought you would have had a positive by now if you were pregnant 🫤 keep us updated x
