Early scans

Hi all,

I wanted to book an early scan and just wanted to know if anyone would recommend anywhere specific. This is mainly for peace of mind, I know I don't have to have it done but it's to rule out ectopic pregnancy, and makes sure pregnancy is in the right place.

The 2 that I know where I live are ultrasound direct and window to the womb.

Has anyone had good experience with either of those?

Prices are similar for both.

TIA

Hi @mamamia901

I went for a number of early scans with window to the womb for similar reasons as you. I couldn’t recommend them enough. They were really lovely and welcoming, thorough with the scan and explained everything really well to me. I would defo go back again for a reassurance scan if I got pregnant again!

I also had a lovely experience at window to the womb, would recommend them.

The one nearest us is called BabyMoments and I couldn't recommend them enough if there's one near you!

that really is going to depend on the area, even within a brand some clinics are better than others.

Ultrasound direct is more of a medical environment

I wouldn’t have an early scan at window to the womb- if it’s bad news or inconclusive you don’t want to be walking out of your scan in a room full of pink and blue gender reveal stuff and baby photography.

I went to both. Agree with @sickbucket67 that Ultrasound direct was a bit more 'medical' but I think that was probably a good thing. I was lucky that my early scans were positive, but I think I would have trusted ultrasound direct to actually provide me with the information and referral needed if things hadn't gone to plan.

I had a MMC diagnosed at Ultrasound direct they were very sympathetic and professional. Had an early viability scan and an 8 week scan with Window to the Womb which was thankfully successful but I think they would have been just as good at handling bad news. They only book early scans together so you won't be waiting with those that are further along but there are Teddies, pics etc in the waiting room of WTTW whereas UD is a more clinical environment. WTTW had evening appts but UD didn't..I'd go with whichever is more convenient geographically/timing wise for you.

Thanks everyone! Think im going to book with Ultrasound Direct. I had already booked with WTTW but changing this tomorrow.

I went to WTTW and got bad news. They were very kind and professional. However, in hindsight wish I’d waited until my NHS scan or, like others here have suggested, went to Ultrasound direct. Good luck x
