A little happiness & positivity to start the new year, what is your favourite thing about pregnancy / being pregnant?

Nesting

Feeling them move around inside you and watching them grow by seeing your bump grow.

I loved having a bump

Mumoftwo1312 · 31/12/2023 12:39

Having a baby in the end. It's the only positive thing about pregnancy for me - but it's a big one!

Mumoftwo1312 · 31/12/2023 12:39

Oh maybe no periods is a small plus too

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 31/12/2023 12:39

I’m not pregnant anymore (baby is 6 months old) but my favourite thing was the excitement of bringing a new person into the family and how happy everyone was.

Riverlee · 31/12/2023 12:41

i Loved the shape of my body when I was pregnant. It was more defined.

Weefreetiffany · 31/12/2023 12:51

Ohhh reading this I think I’ve realised I don’t like being pregnant! I’ve had two quite hard pregnancies and I struggle with not being productive and proactive which is hard with HG in first/second trimesters and now utter exhaustion in third. However my husband has really stepped up and looked after me and it’s been so good for me to be taken care of a bit more and have extra consideration and rest! So I appreciate him and all he’s done to let me prioritise being a pregnant mum and not feel like I have to suck it up and struggle through, which is the message we hear all too often than not.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 31/12/2023 12:55

That first shock of seeing the two lines, then doing multiple tests after that as I couldn’t believe it!!! Was easily the best - the rest was a stressful roller coaster

MrsNandortheRelentless · 31/12/2023 13:00

The best thing for me from 20 weeks onwards was the utter elation and relief & thinking “at fucking last, AT LAST, it’s finally our time”.

I was carrying a fucking miracle, a 10 year in the making, absolute miracle of epic proportions!
I cannot begin to describe how excited we were. The best feeling ever.

^ this!

@Weefreetiffany exactly the same for me! Difficult pregnancy (currently week 34) with excruciating sciatic and herniated disk pain, being bed bound. Also have a strong tendency towards productivity and perfectionism... and I couldn't do either as I was in pain or on strong medication with side effects. My husband is also amazing - working, doing everything around the house, taking care of me, wiping tears away.

Sometimes the universe gives us what we need to become better human beings... in my case it was slow down, you don't need to be perfect; your only job now is to live so that your baby will also live.

NotHooray · 31/12/2023 13:22

No periods!!!
I loved not worrying about how I looked in clothes. And obviously the baby at the end of it Grin

Happytimes123456 · 31/12/2023 13:23

I LOVED being pregnant with both my girls. Things I loved:
Looking on an app to see how big they are at each stage.
Imagining what their faces will be like, which parts from me and which parts from my husband.
Feeling them move.
Husband feeling them move.
Not feeling too guilty about anything that I eat.
Having a bump.
Watching my body change throughout the pregnancy... our bodies are amazing!!

App13 · 31/12/2023 13:24

I didn't enjoy any of it I must admit. Just got on with life until dc turned up and changed my world to a haven

Mazuslongtoenail · 31/12/2023 13:26

The communal excitement. There’s something about an imminent arrival that makes everyone so warm and supportive - even friends of friends send knitted hats.

I just love how there’s something so strong and instinctive about it that brings people together.

peachgreen · 31/12/2023 13:41

I adored being pregnant. I had bad morning sickness but once that passed I was very lucky and had a great pregnancy. I had loads of energy and felt great. I loved the way my body looked for the first time in my life. I loved the attention from others! I loved feeling the baby move, I loved DH being so attentive and sweet, I loved everyone being so excited for us (we had lost a baby before). I loved winding down at work. It was one of the happiest times of my life. I had very bad PND so I don’t know if I could do it again, but pregnancy was a joy.

Pickles2023 · 31/12/2023 13:43

The baby! Thats it for me haha i struggle haha

Beforehand i had all these thoughts of glowing, bump, getting excited at the development and buying things...but it goes a bit tits up in my case 😂😂 now its anxiety till baby in my arms safe..(i naively thought thats when worry ends...)

Pumpkindoodles · 31/12/2023 14:13

Nothing at all the first 12 weeks. But after that when things eased up Ive enjoyed just indulging myself in naps and eating what I wanted, letting my stomach hang out, and being looked after

LavenderSweetPea · 31/12/2023 19:33

I was so proud of my cute little bump when it started appearing at around 14-20w, I loved dressing the bump and 'looking pregnant'. Now I'm 34w it's not cute anymore I look like a whale 😂 I have also enjoyed being told I'm 'glowing' even though I certainly am not.

Not going to lie, the 3rd trimester I have also quite enjoyed the fuss of being told not to push myself too hard and have other people offer to take some of the load round the house.

MuchTooTired · 31/12/2023 19:35

Giving birth and therefore not being pregnant was the best thing about pregnancy for me!! So… the baby at the end (babies for me!)

alrighthen · 31/12/2023 19:40

Intense orgasms and an unusually high (for me) sex drive!

The tiny kicks

Getting a seat on the tube when it’s rammed!

Thinking about names

Free dental work

LeonieSN93 · 31/12/2023 19:41

Hard to pick 1 so here's a bunch that I equally enjoyed 😉😂

No periods, feeling kicks/movement, the anticipation and excitement of knowing your baby is on the way, picking out names with DH, telling family and friends...

Also this isn't something all women experience but my hair got so thick and healthy looking during my pregnancy! It was the best my hair ever looked 😄

PuffyShirt · 31/12/2023 19:43

I really loved being pregnant. I looked amazing 😁and felt fantastic. I loved feeling the kicks, and as someone else said - pregnancy orgasms are unbelievable.

Nttttt · 31/12/2023 19:50

My mental health has been so good! Aside from the occasional grumpy moment, I’m so relaxed. I think I may have had PMDD previously.

I really am not someone who has particularly enjoyed this so far mainly due to horrible SPD and low iron causing exhaustion and added pain but excited to get my little girl soon ❤️

Gruffalotea · 31/12/2023 20:10

The birth and baby at the end. I’m not a fan of pregnancy but do enjoy labour and birth - maybe enjoy is a strong word for it as it’s obviously painful but the superwoman hormone rush afterwards is amazing.

This is my last baby as I can’t hack another pregnancy, currently 34 weeks and can’t wait to get this baby out!
