Faint lines 5/6 days late starting af

Hi all,

I am 5/6 days late starting af. I am always regular. And have a cycle of 31-32 days. I took a test just now and I have a very faint positive line. I’m just wondering why is it not a strong line. I had an ectopic pregnancy back in June which didn’t need any medical intervention and passed on it’s own around 6 weeks pregnant. I’m thinking is this another ectopic or a chemical pregnancy or is it because I didn’t test using my early morning pee.

I am so confused. Anyone experienced this?

Hi I’m in same situation few days late I am getting strong positives on frer but not on the pound shop pregnancy tests . So potential four days late but that’s if 28 day I can sometimes go to 32.

Sarbear67 · 31/12/2023 11:50

Hi recently been trying for over two years and about to go for ivf. Pregnancy tests in frer are strong positives but the pound shop or sainsburys are faint. Should I be concerned ? I was last in 28/29 November and I usually have a cycle of say normally 28 days but can go 32. I have tested again and slightly darker but not majorly. Any help be much appreciated

@Clouds101 there's definitely a line. Perhaps the test you manage to get is a bit less sensitive and/or you used more diluted pee. I would definitely take that test as being positive as your periods are late too.

Clouds101 · 31/12/2023 12:45

Thank you for your response. Yhh I’m thinking of buying another test to check to see if the line has gotten any darker. I will test in the morning.

Perhaps you could get a digital one so then you don't obsess with the strength of the line.

Day 7 of a missed period and my line is still faint but just abit darker than my original post. The line is more vid ale than my previous test. I know that is still faint for 7 days. I’m thinking this may result in a chemical or ectopic pregnancy. Any thoughts?

When I’m back in the UK I’ll be buying a more reliable brand such Clear Blue.

I had an ectopic pregnancy last year and I didn't get a positive test until I was 5 days late and then it was faint like yours. I wasn't diagnosed until 7+2 and had surgery due to a rupture at 7+4.

As you've previously had an ectopic you should be offered an early scan in every pregnancy to confirm the location. I had mine at 5+2 for my second pregnancy and 5+3 for my third pregnancy.

My EPU is GP referral only so I have to go to my GP to organise but some EPUs are self referral.

As you say you're abroad I would suggest getting a scan there ASAP. It's generally not advised to fly with an ectopic I think so best to check the location ASAP.

Saymyname28 · 01/01/2024 08:40

It just be that the cheap ones don't show as dark. But with the previous ectopic I'd go to the doctor. Which is gonna be a pain in the arse but I'd be concerned about the flight if its another ectopic.

Emmaev · 01/01/2024 10:43

That’s a very faint line for how far past your period you are, I’d be concerned this is an ectopic.

When I had my ectopic the lines were always like this and never got darker. And when I did a digital it only got to 1-2 weeks at 5/6 weeks. Definitely get checked out with your epu asap
