Hello all,
I'm 39 (40 in March) and have just had a BFP, feeling pleased, surprised and a bit anxious. I have a DS who is 2.5, and had a miscarriage at 9 weeks in September. I wasn't expecting to fall pregnant so soon and despite my recent loss I want to come at this situation with hope. Anyone else in a similar boat or have any hopeful tidbits to share? I've been longing for one more, so it would be lovely if this little one sticks around.

Hello!

I will be 41 in March and got BFP in December. I am not sure how its going to go yet as I have had 3 scans so far. I am either out by 10-12 days or its not developing well.

I am anxious as well, keep thinking at my age its likely to go all wrong. Saw gestational and yolk sac today, a progress from the last time but it doesn't tally with my dates.

I have two boys 14 year old and a 2 year old.

@AskingForAFriend12 ah, hope it all turns out well for you. How far off is it by your dates? Have you had the early scans just because of your age?

About 10 -12 days I think.

No, not the age, I had some brown spotting and some one-sided pain. I don't feel old at all. My last pregnancy was completely fine and that wasn't that long ago.

Hi there, I am 40 in 3 weeks and have a nearly 3 month old DD, baby no 2, conceived just after I turned 39. I was quite anxious because of my age but everything turned out fine. I'm not going to lie, I did find my second pregnancy more difficult, no major complications but I was a lot more tired and had anxiety around baby's movements. But aside from that all went well and she is an easier baby so far than DD 1 was Smile best of luck!

@AskingForAFriend12 I don't think 41 is old either. Sorry to hear about the stressful dating issue and the unwanted symptoms, but hopefully things will keep developing and turn out OK. Good that you can get repeat scans.

Currently 11 weeks with baby number #1 at 38. Never thought I'd be having our first at this age but our journey was long and challenging.
We had ivf so had an early scan at 7 weeks.
I've been so anxious that I had another private scan before Christmas at 10 weeks. I'm already anxious again 😆 waiting on my first nhs scan hopefully in next week or two.
I keep thinking its all going to go wrong.
Had my booking appointment today tho and midwife didn't bat an eyelid over my age

WolfMother326 · 30/12/2023 22:01

@MoonIightDreamer I understand completely how you feel (other than the IVF, that sounds so hard). I had my first at 37 and was very anxious during the first trimester, had extra scans etc. Very good sign to have a good scan at 10 weeks!

Sorry to hear of your earlier loss @WolfMother326

I was heartbroken to lose my first pregnancy at 9.5 weeks at the age of 39, I fell pregnant again 3 months later. I'm now aged 40 and 23 weeks pregnant. All the scans are looking good and baby is getting more wriggly as the days go by. :)

Wishing you lots of luck, congratulations!

@CCrowe thanks for sharing this. I'm so glad that you're going through a happy healthy pregnancy this time around!

I am 42 and 26 weeks with baby 3. So far so good. The hospital is offering me an induction at 41 weeks but my others had both been born by then so I don’t expect I will get to 41 weeks.

Thankyouthankyoujellybean · 01/01/2024 17:22

I'm 39 and 32 weeks with #3. It's been plain sailing (apart from being shattered in the first trimester) and I'm on the 'green' pathway i.e. low risk. Age ain't nothing but a number... but it definitely helps if you're fit and healthy, I think. Sending positive vibes to all!

Marchbug · 01/01/2024 17:46

Hi all, I'm 41 and 6 weeks pregnant with no3. I'm really anxious about being 'too old', even though would never think that of anyone else, and also feel more anxious what people may think this time too, as well as the usual worries that baby is ok. Had early scan yesterday and saw HB at 6+5 which was reassuring after a non viable pregnancy in August

NotAQueef · 02/01/2024 10:36

hi all, congratulations to you all. I turned 42 this week and am 11w with number 3 (there'll be a 9yr gap to my current youngest)!
I do feel a reluctance to tell people this time round, and do think this is age related - 1: feel like higher chance of things not working out and 2 worried what people will say due to my age
So far so good - very sick and tired but not as bad as my other 2 (which of course gives me anxiety on the days I feel 'good'). had early scan just before xmas and all looked good, but still worried that something has gone wrong - 12w scan next week so hopefully that'll be positive and I'll calm down a little

WolfMother326 · 03/01/2024 12:06

Congratulations all, happy to hear of your pregnancies!

Wishing you good luck on your scan @NotAQueef

I am only 4+3 (I think) and the days are passing very slowly...

Hello , congrats to all! I am 38 with baby number 1 at 26 weeks.

we started going fertility clinic and prepared for the route of IVF due to age. Within a month of basic checks for both husband and I And we cut out alcohol completely. I fell pregnant naturally. My eggs is at high reserve level despite the age.

The preg journey I would say is good as I did not experience anything in the extreme but just being uncomfortable at times.

Hope it helps!
