Hi All - I’m 35 weeks 4 days pregnant and I have had 3 CTGs because I rang maternity triage to say I thought I was having braxtons but wasn’t 100% sure and they said to go to my nearest hospital as I was staying with family over Xmas and not close to my own maternity hospital.

I had 2 on Thursday 28th and 1 yesterday (in the hospital I am having my baby in) and all 3 didn’t pass for the reason:

  • No episodes of high variation
  • Long term variation in high episodes below acceptable level

On both days the midwife appeared confused as to why the test didn’t pass and a consultant then reviewed it.

On Thursday the consultant said he’d like me to repeat the test in 2-3 days time at my own hospital but he wasn’t concerned and happy for me to go home.

When I rang my own maternity unit they said not to wait the 2-3 days but to come in the following day (yesterday) and have the test.

When I first arrived yesterday the midwife was very confident I’d be in an out quickly but after an hour of the test not working and me drinking cold water and her holding the monitor on my stomach.

When the test didnt pass she also had a consultant review the results who signed off to say he was happy as the “Short term variation” was good and the heart was strong. He said I didn’t need to repeat the test but I was to have a scan on Tuesday.

In both hospitals the midwife’s and doctors keep saying that the heart rate is perfect at 142 and they can’t visually see a problem but the machine isn’t happy.

Due to being consultant led as I am a severe asthmatic my own consultant then rang me yesterday to say he disagreed with me not needing another test and wanted me back on Sunday (tomorrow) to have CTG performed.

So I am going back for my fourth on Sunday.

Anyone had anything similar as I’ve googled and googled and can’t find anything about long term variation only short term which is fine on mine!

Thanks in advance xxx
