Which Next branches stock maternity? Any in Leeds?

I'm bursting out of my jeans (15 weeks pg) and desperately need to go on a shopping trip to get some maternity jeans!

I like the look of the overbump ones from Next, but my local branch (York) doesn't do maternity. I can't find any mention of maternity in their online store locator - does anyone know if there are any near me that stock maternity? I'll probably be going on a shopping trip to Leeds next week anyway, but it would be useful to find out before I waste my time traipsing round a shop full of clothes I can't fit into...

I don't want to buy straight from Next Directory as I want to be able to try on first, I often find I fall in between sizes in Next.

Thanks!

Fairly sure 2 yrs ago they did next maternity at White Rose in Leeds, but didn't get actually into Leeds very often. I do know I rang up first (several shops) to make sure though-you can find the shop phone numbers on the website to ask.

yousaidit · 16/03/2008 19:47

The Leeds City Centre store s your best bet, but white rose as back up coz iy's also pretty big and use dto stock it.

Orchide · 16/03/2008 19:51

NEXT at Birstall, near Ikea, have maternity stuff - the range is NOT huge though!

emma1977 · 16/03/2008 20:00

Just order loads of different styles and sizes from the directory and return the ones which you don't want- it doesn't cost anything extra.

That's what I did!

slinkiemalinki · 16/03/2008 22:24

If you are between sizes, be warned Next come up HUGE in maternity. I normally take a 10 in maternity but an 8 was a better fit. But agree it's easier to order lots and send it back. You get a better selection that way. I wasn't that impressed with their stuff btw - Zara have some great maternity jeans for £40 at the moment.

KashaSarrasin · 16/03/2008 22:45

Thanks everyone - I'll definitely check out the Leeds centre one, and also check out Zara and Gap - and of course H&M, except the two pairs of jeans I got from them when I was pg with DS never stayed up for more than 30 seconds. I ended up wearing super-attractive braces (PITA when you need a wee as well!) Sigh.

Just to let you know Next Leeds City Centre store does not do maternity any more (I asked in there last week), nor does White Rose (asked on Saturday). As another poster has already mentioned, Birstall does but it is very small. Gap (downstairs) in the city centre does have quite a large (in comparison to most stores) selection as does H&M in the arcade bit.

Good luck with the jean shopping. I'm not having much luck at all. I want a pair of skinny fit ones but finding them the right length (5"2) and that will fit longer than until the end of the week is driving me to distraction. I am going to start looking online I think. Also anyone know where there is a New Look that does maternity wear within the vacinity of Leeds?

Hope this helps.

I think it might be possible to order the directory stuff to pick up at the store - you can then try it on and return it to the staff there if it doesn't fit?

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 17/03/2008 09:56

Agree that Next maternity come up big - and would agree to go for a size smaller than what you are!

lizziemun · 17/03/2008 10:41

When i ask in Next last yr I was told Maternity is only online.

But you can pick up in store.

Loshad · 17/03/2008 10:47

I would just order loads of stuff froim the directory, and return what deosn't fit - it won't cost you any more, and the delivery charge will be less than the cost of getting from York to Leeds

EyeballsintheSky · 17/03/2008 19:15

I ordered a load of stuff to be delivered, tried it on and just took it back to the store if it didn't fit. No hassle at all. They are very happy to take back items that don't fit.

And their stuff does come up enormous. I ordered two sizes down for maternity jeans and they still fell down all the time.

cass66 · 17/03/2008 19:23

the next clearance store at the designer outlet (mcarthur glen) has a small range of maternity stuff but is very hit and miss. the leeds next doesn't do maternity and the clearance shop which used to has gone!

the mamas and papas store at monks cross has some clothes, nice comfy jersey trousers. H and M in york doesn't do maternity, the leeds one used to, not sure now. M and S in york and leeds doesn't, the one in pudsey and newcastle (!) does. Dorothy perkins has loads of mat jeans, both in york and leeds.

I was also shopping in leeds on sat, and york the week before!!! enjoy.

Went to Leeds today so now I can report back with reviews!

H&M - not as much maternity stuff as I was expecting/hoping for, none of the jeans fitted me well but I got a shirt and a wrap cardigan for £10 each.

Next - went in to get some Postman Pat pants for DS (attempting potty training at easter) which they didn't have, checked just to make sure and nothing, woman I spoke to confirmed nearest was Birstall (I'm carless atm so not much use!)

New Look - no overbump jeans but some supercheap £12 underbump ones with side panel. There's no way these were going to stay up on me though! Got a nice floaty smock top for £14.

Zara - blink and you miss it maternity rail - I had to ask where it was after searching the store! No jeans.

Gap - Great selection of jeans, over and under bump. If, that is, you are a size 4 . I did manage to find one pair of overbump jeans that I just fit into (US 10/UK 14) so I bought them anyway. Even though I suspect I'll outgrow them totally in a month or so I guess I'll get some use out of them after the birth too! They were £30, so not too expensive.

Dorothy Perkins - no overbump jeans or overbump other trousers either, and their tops were all in really cheap-looking jersey so didn't get anything there.

I suspect I'll eventually end up ordering some from Next Directory, which I was really trying to avoid [sigh] - apart from the sizing issue, I've never joined as I don't like buying on credit (don't have any store cards etc) and I really don't understand why they don't stock the maternity stuff in store, it's really very annoying (KS tries to avoid swearing...)

Thanks for all your help and advice!

Leeds centre & White rose don't stock maternity, but birstall near ikea do, but the range is limited - I'd recommned the over the bump jeans though - I've practically lived in mine. I ordered them from the directory

Gilbertgrape · 04/11/2008 12:07

Blooming Marvellous over bump jeans were really comfortable, stayed up - and saw me through my entire pregnancy (and were good to keep wearing afterwards as well)

bikerunski · 04/11/2008 12:46

I know it's not York, but Sheffield Meadowhall Next has a reasonable selection of maternity clothes, and M'hall H&M not bad either. Having said that, I lived in my Seraphine cords, although XL = Size 14!

abbymeg · 04/11/2008 15:47

I got a pair of over the bump jeans at Mothercare world at Clifton Moor about three weeks ago. Good luck with the search!

dan39 · 04/11/2008 18:47

Someone asked about a New Look in Leeds, there is one in the Headrow centre - small range but its quite good I think.

andierox · 03/10/2010 23:56

Buy some braces!! Just the job for keeping maternity pants up and really comfortable.you can get them on Ebay etc and M And S do them there are also things called 'belly ups' but real braces are more effective. I heart mine!! :O

buttonmoon78 · 04/10/2010 10:24

Karsha - I don't do credit either and when I asked if I could pay with my debit card over the phone they said they'd have to do a credit check Hmm

But you can order what you like in store and have it delivered to home (small charge) or store (no charge).

Good luck!
