When booking in a c section

ive made the decision to try for a vbac but then go straight for elective section if overdue. My due date falls on a weekend. When do they tend to book this in for you and how much notice? Did you get a choice of dates?

Current protocol is 41 weeks so do you think they would book in the week before or after this?

I wasnt given a choice of date. I think most people find out a few weeks beforehand.

I would recommend you ask for it just before you get to 41 weeks instead of afterwards. I got to 42 weeks with my first pregnancy and my placenta wasn’t fully working, which the risk the more overdue you go.

Thanks I was thinking that too

I’d be interested how you get on. I’ve got my appointment tomorrow to discuss vbac vs csection and I’m thinking of the same if that’s an option!

It should definitely be an option! When was your last baby? Since they’ve changed the rules about allowing more c sections they’re way more relaxed and supportive of you making that choice. When I initially said I’d be happy to be induced if overdue they seemed surprised!

Also because of the scandal of so many maternity services failing they’re supposed to be much better with listening to patients and putting them first.

I only had my first just over 2 years ago. I had a section as she was breech and I remember the consultant being particularly peeved that I didn’t want an ECV, so didn’t know the two phased approach might be an option this time (provided baby ok and right way up etc).
They have given me that option really easily to have a 2 phased approach. Glad I came across this thread, thank you :)
I think that you’re right and they are now trying to be better and allow women to advocate for themselves more!
