Hi ladies,
please can someone help
me figure things out here.
My last period started on November 4
i tracked my ovulation with LH tests and saw a surge on November 19 and 20, I didn’t test on November 21, but did on November 22 and the line was still noticeable but lighter than the peak ones.

my first very very faint line was on November 29 (CB 6 days early test) and then still faint but very noticeable line on the same type of test the next day. I think I got my BFP on December 7.

I got 3+ on my clear blue digital on December 11.

I went for a scan yesterday (December 20) and we saw our baby with a heartbeat 🙏🏼 but it according to this private scan our baby measured 5w5d. I’m not sure how this is possible if my CB digital showed 3+ 9 days ago! Also, if I’m 5+5 that means I ovulated on November 23, would I be able to see a very very faint line on November 29 with early CB test?

Please, can someone experienced help me figure this out?

I’m driving myself crazy instead of being happy we saw the heartbeat ❤️

So in your scan you are measure 7 days behind where your LMP would date your pregnancy? When I had my first scan at 6 weeks 5 days I was measuring 5 days (6 weeks exactly)behind then I had one at 9 weeks and was measuring 3 days behind. By the time I got to my 12 weeks scan I was bang on what I estimated I should be measuring and they gave me the due date that I had personally calculated as well.

I know so many people who every time they have been for a scan they measure slightly differently because it’s not exact. Just the way estimated birth weight on scans can be very out.

The fact that you for a 3+ on your clearblue test and you saw a heartbeat are all signs that you have a healthy progressing pregnancy.

It's hard when the baby is so small to get an accurate measurement. As PP said, things tend to line up better the further along the pregnancy you get.

So by my LMP I would have been 6w4d on the day of the scan, while they said baby measured for 5w5d. I do know that I didn’t ovulate in the middle of my cycle, it was 3-4 days later. So I guess I was measuring around 2-3 days earlier than I thought.
it’s the 3+ on digital 9 days before my scan that got me really worried - what if baby hasn’t grown as much as it should have in the span of these 9 days. But I get your point - very hard to measure precisely at this stage and babies might grow different at different stages just like they do once they’re born?
thanks for sharing your experience btw, reassuring xxx

@Alina86 I know it’s really hard not to worry. I worried so much in the first trimester about miscarriage or something not being right. But just know that these scan are not exact especially at such an early stage.

I am now almost 28 weeks so just try and hang in there. It does get less stressful in many ways.

You’ll need to wait until your dating scan for an accurate date.
Try not to worry…what’s your concern, the paternity?

bogoblin · 23/12/2023 07:44

Congratulations! Those tests are not that accurate by the way - all they really do is tell you if you're pregnant or not. With such a variety in levels of hormone in different women, how can they be accurate to every person who uses them?

FirstTimeMumma2021 · 23/12/2023 13:40

Best advice I ever got was from a midwife who told me, no two measurement scans will be the same.
At my 12wk scan they gave me date and i was like, thats not right 😂
Even later on, I've had friends who've been induced due to babies measuring 9 and 10lbs and born at 7lbs.
I got induced with my little boy as was told he was measuring 4lbs and they were worried he had stopped growing, he was born 6lbs!

Try and enjoy and celebrate your babies heartbeat x

Thriving30 · 23/12/2023 15:11

If you got the surge 19/20 then that makes sense you ovulate a couple of days later. Then implantation happens a few days after
You've got a healthy pregnancy with a heartbeat. Congratulations!

@FirstTimeMumma2021
Wow.. these stories really question amount of trust we should be putting into these scans…
turns out for me it might be one or combination of late ovulation/late implantation/scan accuracy deviation.

@Thriving30
Thank you x
I think you’re right - it was my first time tracking ovulation and I thought I would ovulate the next day after my surge start but since then learned it can be 24-48 hours after the level drops!

@bogoblin so confusing… some don’t get their 3+ for a while only to find out everything was fine all along, others like me get it early on and then wonder why baby measures smaller than expected🤷🏻‍♀️

@redxlondon hey, I was just getting worried about seeing “3+” on Cb digital at what I thought was 5w2d to then find out that my baby measured 5w5d 9 days later at my early scan. i thought these tests were more accurate!
