Hi

I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant but have not had very much movement from the baby at all. I barely even notice flutters.

I am worried as on my previous 2 scans, the baby slept and there was not much movement from him/her then, I am thinking what if something is wrong and all sorts come to mind like Special Needs e.t.c.

On my last pregnancy the baby was active on all the scans and I know that each baby is different but I still worry all the same. Has anyone gone for scans where there baby has been quiet pretty much?

if your placenta is anterior, it can muffle the movements, like the baby kicking you through a pillow! has the sonographer highlighted anything that might make SN a possibility? you probably have a really chilled baby. hard not to worry though

Hi Pigsin space, my last scan for this pregnancy took an hour and included a 15 minute speed walk and jumping up and down to get him moving, had been really quiet up until 20 weeks and had had an avtive 3 weeks and now calming down again, with DD I hardly felt any movements at all, she was just laid back inside and started life as a very laid back baby but definitely making up for it now!

Is it your first baby, Pigs?

Hi pigs, I didnt feel this Lo till well after 20 weeks - anterior plancenta prevented feeling much.

I guess i am worrying too much but I will try get a scan in sometime this week. I know on my last pregnancy, the placenta muffled the kicking so maybe that is the case again. Thanks for the reassurance

hey- dd was the most violent kicker ever. i got kicked and punched non stop from about 17 weeks onwards.

this one i didnt feel AT ALL until 20 weeks and even now at 31 it's more of gentle stretches and flutterings rather than the all out karate sessions i was used to.

and yes this baby was also extremely quiet in both scans to date. i have exactly the same worries as you but have mentioned at every single antenatal appointment and have been told by everyone not to worry as different babies move differently etc etc. last mw i saw was pregnant with her 3rd and reassured me that all her 3 had v different patterns and as long as patterns don't change (ie if suddently this baby starts moving frantically) it should be fine.

sorry- not much help but thought i'd share.

Hi, I too, am 18 wks pg. I haven,t felt any fluttering movement at all. This is my first pg so don,t really know what to expect but midwife said it would be probably between 20-22wks before I felt anything. I keep getting cramping stetching pains some days though. I presumed this is just growing pains. Does anyone know if they will stop and baby movement will start. I had a scan on Friday and everything was well.Think I,ve got a chilled baby cos it hasn,t moved about a lot during scans.(hopefully a sigh of things to come eh?) xx
