7+2 weeks…

Hi everyone 😊 - Just looking for a little advise. Currently 7+2 based on last period. I was spotting at the beginning of my pregnancy, on and off nothing consistent and lasted 2/3 minutes on the days it happened then stopped. I tested to be sure and the tests were coming up darker and darker which means pregnancy is progressing. I had a midwife contact me to book in my first appointment, and i queried it with her. She told me if it continues then contact the EPU. It never continued and honestly it stopped as soon as it started, so didn’t feel was necessary to contact EPU and nothing since either. Anyway i went for the appointment today and i mentioned the spotting as it was a different midwife due to the lady i would normally be having being on annual leave… she told me not to worry and it is fine. Put it on my notes. I was half expecting her to send me for an early scan as i know they can do this depending on history and what the issue is at hand at the time with spotting being one of them to qualify. She never even mentioned it (not because i don't think shes professional, but more to do with her thinking it wasn’t necessary). So i just wanted to ask for peoples opinions… do i just not worry and assume everything is progressing as it should be due to no-one seeming alarmed by the spotting? Or do i pay the money and have a reassurance scan privately? Interested to know peoples thoughts.

thanks 😊 xx

I had bleeding early on in my first pregnancy they did give me a blood test but no scan was offered. I ended up paying for one at about 9/10 weeks when I realised my 12 week scan would be more like 13 weeks. All was ok, she's 3.5 now x

It could have been implantation bleeding.
If its stopped, and was a while ago, you wouldn’t qualify for a scan

I have had brown spotting since 7-8 weeks on and off. Midwife wasn't concerned at all said unless you are soaking a pad in an hour and/or have severe cramps then it's normal. IVF pregnancy so I had a scan at 6 weeks and 8 weeks and then NHS dating scan at 12 and 13 weeks (had to repeat due to baby in wrong position) All has been well. The early scans did really help with reassurance but I will say it doesn't last long before the worry creeps in again!

@ChickpeaPie @JRTfan @Tryingtoconceivenumber2 thanks all! I just think they are so expensive aren’t they, and I want to book a private one to take the kids do for a gender reveal. But then equally if it puts your mind at rest then i know its worth it. I agree though i think my anxiety will still come back eventually until 12 weeks xx
