Hives in First Trimester

This is my first post, so hello everyone!

I?m 9+1 with my second pregnancy (had a miscarriage at 8 weeks last year) and I?ve been having a horrible time. For most of the last 3 weeks I?ve virtually been bed bound with sickness, dizziness, tiredness and headaches.

Yesterday a small rash which looked like nettle stings appeared on my arm. Within 15 minutes it had spread everywhere apart from my face. Today it?s covered my face too! I look like I?ve slept in pile of nettles!

I?ve googled hives in pregnancy, but everywhere seems to say it?s quite common in the third trimester, which little mention of early pregnancy. Has anyone else suffered from it this early on and can you recommend anything for the itching please? Or just make me feel like I?m not alone!

Thank you!!

hi fragola - welcome to mumsnet! sorry to hear you've been having such a hard time but fingers crossed that means the pg is going well for you

I had terrible problems with skin when having my first daughter and was prescribe anti histamen - you have to be careful and take advice from pharmacist though as there are only some types suitable for pregnancy

you could try bathing in oilatum too? E45 do an anti-itch cream as well

hope something helps soon

Thanks dizzy,

I tried the E45 anti-itch cream and two days later they disappeared overnight!

Hurrah!
