Hey everyone, just a bit of a moan really, 38+5 ive had 2 sweeps and both times cervix has been favourable and midwife has said its soft and stretchy but still a bit long and babys head is sat right on cervix, lost my mucus plug after first sweep 5 days ago and still nothing, no contractions, no signs of labour not even period cramps, if i go over due i will be booked in for a c-sec really want to avoid that so im getting frustrated and anxious that nothing is working :-( x

Sorry! It's so tough at this stage. I tried stairs and castor oil and bouncing on a ball and everything and ended up in a c section anyway because my blood pressure was high (maybe from all the stress).
Babies come when you are feeling safe and protected enough to release oxytocin but the stress of wanting them out can really affect that - it's a catch 22.
If I had my time again, I'd watch my favourite Netflix shows and see if I could chill the baby out but have no idea if that would work either.
Hopefully wiser mums than me will be along with some advice for you!

@Avie29 it's a mental game of patience sadly. Get the oxytocin going and enjoy the last few weeks of you and your partner (if this is your first). If it helps at all, i desperately didn't want a c section and I ended up with a c section and honestly will opt for it with no.2. I was really surprised by how well I healed and how quickly you can get going again (whilst also being careful too obviously). X

Thanks ladies, this is baby number 5, i went overdue with my first and second 15days induced and 8 days spontaneously, and elective c-sec with twins, i guess what is frustrating me is im showing all the signs of going into labour soon but have been for weeks now so anticipation is killing me lol plus with Christmas coming up im so worried about going into labour on the big day and ruining Christmas for my other children and whoever will need to watch them lol plus it would be pretty sucky for baby to have birthday same day as Christmas day lol knowing my luck that is what will happen 😂 my second arrived easter Sunday during a big family egg hunt and roast dinner (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents the works) lol

Just an update, had 4th sweep today and still nothing, no more sweeps now, booked in for consultation on 29th to discuss induction/c-sec x

Walk walk and walk some more, that's the only thing that worked for me after multiple sweeps.

Yep with 4 kids and Christmas shopping im doing plenty of walking and if i do sit it’s mostly on my ball 😂 i think im just too good a host and she doesn’t want to leave haha Ive told her if she doesn’t come tonight/tomorrow she will have to wait until after Christmas x

All I can say is walk more, have as much sex as you can manage then go for a walk and eat the most spicy meal you can find, followed by a walk 😂😭 good luck OP!

Ps. If it is a Christmas baby, make their birthday in July (my friend from school was a Christmas baby and always celebrated her 'birthday' in July 😂

yep done/doing all that lol i love spicy food so been eating that throughout the whole pregnancy anyway and sex is surprisingly still happening regularly 😮 tried pineapple till the point im now sick of it haha literally everything i can do safely im doing lol, but gonna have to have a break from trying to get things going as want her to stay in a few more days now haha which probably means shes gonna come 😂 x

Just thought i would update incase anyone comes across this thread, i was supposed to be induced on the 2nd but they cancelled as they had no room on labour ward 🤷🏻‍♀️, my waters went on the 4th January, still nothing, i was induced on the 5th January, after a very short labour (1hr 29mins) she finally arrived xx
