Hey everyone, I'm just looking for a 2nd opinion! My clear blue test came up positive 1-2 weeks on 29th November. I slept with my new guy on 8th November and stupidly slept with my ex on 13th November, please don't judge hugely regretting it as he's a narcissist and a horrible person. I'm hoping the baby is the new guys , am I right by thinking I was actually 3-4 weeks pregnant so would be too early to be my ex partners? Please help as this could be the difference between me keeping the baby and not iam so so worried x

The clearblue indicator is weeks since conception, not weeks of pregnancy (which is dated from the start of your last period)

Screwyouloopylou · 14/12/2023 20:29

Based on the 1-2 week indicator, you would have conceived anytime from around the 15th Nov. Sperm can survive for up to 5 days, which means that it’s possible that either chap could be the father, it’s too close to call date wise but I could be wrong

Olika · 14/12/2023 20:30

As @mikeyboo says the test shows 1-2 weeks from conception. Looking at calendar 2 weeks would take you to week starting 13th.

Lucyabz87 · 14/12/2023 22:12

Am I right by saying you add on 2 weeks to the test so if clear blue says 1-2 weeks I'm actually 3-4 which would be earlier than the 13th right? I haven't a clue when my last period was so I'm going by days I think I conceived

I was told that clearblue works on from conception but it also depends on how fast your hcg levels rise. With my first pregnancy, I went from 1-2, 2-3 and then 3+ in the space of a week.

As a pp said, it’s possible for sperm to last in your body for up to 5 days. Sorry not to reassure you but I think It’s possible for either guy to be the dad.

CyberCritical · 14/12/2023 22:24

You date your pregnancy from the first day of your last period.

I don't think this will help with paternity though as the dates are so close together that it could be either.

Lucyabz87 · 14/12/2023 22:24

Yea I guess so, when I spoke to my gp they told me whatever the clear blue comes up with you add another 2 weeks onto that, I was sleeping with my ex for 18 months and never got pregnant to him and then I slept with the new man and all of a sudden I'm pregnant so I'm hoping that it's him! I'm going for an early reassurance scan tomorrow so il know more then! Thank you for your help x

Honestly OP, you really won’t know a 5 day range based either on clear blue (whose range is notoriously unreliable) or even a dating scan - as implantation can take days. My pregnancy dates never add up to when DH and I had sex!! I’m so sorry it sounds so stressful for you. You can do early prenatal dna tests but they are expensive (and I think you need samples to test against from both men). Hope you’re ok and have support IRL x

Lucyabz87 · 14/12/2023 22:38

Thankyou! Yea I don't think I'm going to get to the bottom of it really just have to hope it's not the ex , neither know I'm doing this on my own so I won't be doing a DNA it was just for my own peace of mind really! X

I don't think you can pin point a father with 5 days apart I'm afraid. The dates are far too close to determine as ovulating late, sperm life factor. Plus the tests are very vague with indicating a couple of weeks gap. Only way to tell is via DNA I reckon

Olika · 15/12/2023 09:09

When I had my dating scan at 12 weeks they gave me estimated conception date which was about 3 days from the date we DTD. I wonder if this is the case with all dating scans and if so then that would help you.

Thankyou everyone , unfortunately it was confirmed yesterday I'm having an ectopic pregnancy and go in for an op on Wednesday, I suppose everything happens for a reason x

Screwyouloopylou · 17/12/2023 00:25

So sorry to hear that OP, I’ve also had an etopic, I’m glad they’ve spotted it early though, wishing you all the best

Lucyabz87 · 17/12/2023 07:26

I'm sorry to hear you have too, have you gone on to have a successful pregnancy after it? X
