Does breast milk just not agree with my baby?

My little one is 4 months, she was mainly breastfed at first and had the most explosive nappies constantly. I kept thinking it would calm down but it didn’t. She had about one bottle of formula per day in the early days, she’s now on about half and half. I spoke to the health visitor a couple of times about it but she didn’t know what was causing it. Now after formula she’s fine but every time she’s breastfed she has an explosive nappy straight after. It’s making me want to give up sooner if it’s not agreeing with her. I feel like going between the two is maybe not letting her get used to either but I know lots of people do it and it’s fine. Has anyone had this before? Could it be a milk allergy or something?

If she is having standard formula, it’s unlikely to be a milk allergy as that is made with whole cow’s milk.

Could it just be that the breast milk stimulates her bowels as it’s easier to digest than formula?

Take her to see a GP if you’re concerned, they might have some ideas of what’s going on.
