Hi

I just wondered what you peeps made of this and if anyone has experienced similar…

I’m 32 weeks tomorrow and just had an appointment with my midwife where they did the fundal measurement for the 3rd time.

The first time they did it I was measuring 2 weeks ahead so I was sent for a growth scan and by the time I had the scan I was nearly 28 weeks which is what the scan put me at and also just under 90th centile.

Second time a different midwife measured me but I was following the same trend of being 2 weeks ahead.

This time it was the same midwife that measured me as the first time and I’m measuring 32 weeks which although is correct for my gestation it means I’ve dropped so they want to send me for another urgent scan.

Fundal wise, I’ve always measured over the 97th centile but the measurement today put me just under the 90th – which would follow the same trend as the scan but I’m worried that when I go for the scan it might fall even further?

I also know it can all be total rubbish!

Anyone else experience similar?

Thanks

On my first DD they told me at 33 week's that she would be a big baby (my bump was quite small) and that her growth had increased. They sent me for a scan all ok and plotted back on 50th centile.

At 38 weeks they told me she hasn't grown since 34 weeks and growth had stopped (different person measuring) sent me for urgent scan all ok but plotted on 25th centile.

In the end she was 6lbs 1oz at 40+2 (5th centile) so on the smaller side but healthy and home the same day. I really think the issue was that I was measured by 3 different people between 25 weeks and 40 weeks. It caused me no end of stress so I sympathise x

I had an extra scan last week to check where the placenta had got to as it was “low” at 20 weeks. As part of this they took baby measurements and baby was circa 35th percentile for head and abdomen. Went for an antenatal appointment a few days ago and fundal height had me more than a week ahead of where I am.

Please don’t worry too much, the measurements are at best indicative. A scan is obviously a better indicator than your bump height, but you only need to be a few mm out for your centile to jump about.

Try not to worry. I had a fundal height measurement of 3rd centile and scan of 90th centile within one day of each other.

The fundal height measurement can change a lot if the baby shifts position.
