I've just had a scan this afternoon and Renal Pelvis Dilation has been detected in one of the babys kidneys. I have a leaflet about it and it does say not to worry but you just can't help worring can you? I have to go back for another scan in 6 weeks time and I don't think I'll stop worrying until then!

Just thought I'd share....

Oakcake - please don't worry. I had this with all 3 dds, and it is such a common finding that in some NHS Trusts they don't even mention it anymore. My consultant told me that they're starting to think it's now part of normal physiological development of the kidneys/collecting system, although in a samll amount of cases it does need follwing up after birth (my dds were given antibiotics just in case they got urine infections). In the vast majority of cases it has disappeared by birth, or shortly after. Hope this helps - it really is nothing to worry about

my baby has thsi to, try not to worry about it, itr can cure itselkf before before, if not then antibiotics will be given, rest assured at least ur being monitored...

also, in the worst case, they may have to operate, did they say how mcuh dilation the baby had?
