hi! i'm 20, 9-10 weeks pregnant with my first child to be and still haven't had any morning sickness. i was told that your child will be healthier and you have less complications throughout. is this true, because i am really worried

everyone is different

i don't ever really have it, just a need to eat in the mornings and i'm 36 weeks with my third baby.

DumbledoresGirl · 14/03/2008 16:09

I have 4 very healthy children and never once felt a moment of morning sickness. You are lucky, that's all!

Just wait, there are other things waiting for you later in pregnancy, like heartburn, total exhaustion and sleepless nights!

frogger77 · 14/03/2008 16:09

Hi im 21 weeks and have never suffered from it and baby is well and have had no other complications. I think we are just some of the lucky ones. Congrats on your pregnancy.

belgo · 14/03/2008 16:11

plenty of women never have morning sickness and go on to have healthy babies! Try not to worry about it.

Bky · 14/03/2008 16:17

Is all rubbish about not having morning sickness and not having a healthy pregnancy, I have not had any sickness with either of my pregnancies and both have been fine. Everyone is different.

crokky · 14/03/2008 16:18

These pregnancy hormones make some people feel fabulous and other people awful. Please do not worry about not being sick - certainly do not miss it - I am pregnant and still being sick at 36 weeks and I am being induced next week for other complications so all the suffering I have done with sickness hasn't done me or the baby any good!

mum2bean · 14/03/2008 16:19

thanks i feel a bit silly now but better

crokky · 14/03/2008 16:22

don't feel silly, everyone worries in pg!

mum2bean · 14/03/2008 16:26

i know everyone does, although i never saw my parents or aunties worrying!! my gp wasn't very helpful and told me that it's because i'm too young and have no idea about anything!! how rude! plus all my family and friends are about 65 miles away and none of us ever have credit so, all i've got is my fiance, who is about as helpful as a holey bucket!

Nope, I have 2 dds and never had a day of morning sickness.

They are now 9 and 11 and perfectly healthy- sounds like you have been told an old wives tale if you ask me!

NatalieJane · 14/03/2008 16:30

Another here who doesn't seem to get much in the way of morning sickness, had one completely uncomplicated pregnancy, and one that wasn't quite so plain sailing, but don't think either pregnancies suffered (or for that matter were improved, in terms of complications) from not having morning sickness. In fact with the second more complicated pregnancy, that was the only one where I did feel a very slight queasy feeling in the first few weeks.

mum2bean · 14/03/2008 16:33

I'm sure i'll be hearing loads more of them, why do people tell pregnant people these things? as if we dont have our own worries to be dealing with lol!

Change your gp he sounds terrible! What a nasty thing to say (and a load of rubbish). Had no morning sickness at all with ds1 or ds2 - very healthy, never been ill a day in his life.

Welcome to mumsnet by the way

mum2bean · 14/03/2008 16:37

thanks hi to everyone!
i'm currently attempting to change my gp
(she's female btw) thought she would be a bit more understanding! but i start seeing my midwife more as of next week and she's lovely!

YouKnowNothingOfTheCrunch · 14/03/2008 17:14

Oops, sorry! I think that was really unprofessional on her part though. What right does she have to assume you know nothing

Hope you get a new one soon.

Any more worries just post them on here - someone know something about everything!

Parenthood is all about being irrational and worried about everything - expect a lot more of it

CoteDAzur · 14/03/2008 17:21

I didn't have any morning sickness with DD. She was born a very healthy 4kg 10g.

YouKnowNothingOfTheCrunch · 14/03/2008 17:27

Pretty much M2B. Do the right things, make sure you know what you should and shouldn't eat and your body pretty much does the rest!

Get yourself a good book on pregnancy and it'll answer all your questions. Can't think of any off the top of my head. Anyone else got any recommendations?

lizziemun · 14/03/2008 18:39

Mum2Bean I have had 3 pregnancies and the only one i had morning sickness with ended in a miscarriage. Both sucessful pg ended up with babies over 9lbs.
