Hi all,

Does anyone have a birth playlist? If so what sort of music do you have on it?

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and just starting to think about whether this might be a nice thing to have, but i have no idea what sort of songs fit best, so hoping to have some ideas.

I went for relaxing classical, Ludavico Einaudi really pleased with it as a backdrop and my son will also fall asleep to it now.

I spent ages doing a birth playlist with my first. Then when I was in Labour I decided I didn't care and told dh he could choose. So we ended up with the Lord of the rings sound track until the midwife came in and suggested we have something more cheerful. Dh asked me again what I wanted, mid contraction, so I just groaned at him so he panicked and put on agadoo! I can't remember what was on my original list although I remember watching friends on tv in early Labour with ds2. I wanted to watch cool runnings with ds3 but I was going to save it for when I was in established labour. Then I didn't want to watch anything.

I had one, it was all songs I'd listened to in pregnancy, all uplifting and made me feel happy and strong, like U2 sweetest thing and Tender by Blur. I still listen to it now 4 years later!

Years ago I had stuff I liked -
Annie Lennox and the Verve. DD2 was born to Bittersweet Symphony I think

I just had my usual playlist. I know it was playing during both my labours, but circumstances meant that they were off for delivery both times. Ah well.

Midwife had the radio on with my first, had absolutely no idea what was on though. Didn’t have any music with the other two, honestly wouldn’t have noticed that there was any music

Hypnobirthing says playlist is a great idea, I've got mine ready and it's my wedding songs... And songs me and my husband associate with each other and have always played to each other... These songs give me goosebumps... And release plenty of oxytocin which is needed for a smooth birth 🤞

Very relaxed slow music, for me it was Nora Jones and Sade with massage on the lower back. Towards the end, when getting to the crowning stage it all gets too much and I ask for quiet.
