Just curious as to what time everyone's LOs go to bed at?
We've had an awful 4 weeks of LO waking every hour and trying multiple times to get him back down again. Reverting back to a later bedtime of 10ish tonight to see if it helps 🙃

Nclktnntt · 24/04/2024 21:07

@Mushroo did your LO have a temp after or before? My LO was terrible with the first lot for almost 48 hours and I'm dreading these as it seems it was the menb that was the culprit because last time he was totally fine!

@Mushroo @FirstMondayInMay were doing good thank you, I feel we've found our rhythm and watching him become more interested in what's going on around him is so lovely, not for naps though 😂 - had a mare yesterday with trying to get an appointment with the doctor for LO and ended up at the walk in - honestly, I don't see the point in doctors offices anymore, may as well just head straight to the walk in centers.

Around how many weeks did all your LOs hit the 4 month fussy stages? I think my little one is entering the 4 month stage (15weeks just now) is currently still sleeping through but he does wake up at least once in the night but is happy and content, talks to himself then goes back to sleep , once or twice I've needed to give him his dummy but then he's managed to settle himself (fingers crossed this continues!) I lie awake until he falls back asleep, so hopefully he gets quicker at falling back asleep 😂

Also - would you guys be concerned? My LO is dropping his percentiles in weight? Hes been gaining weight but steadily dropping the centiles, He's eating more than enough for his weight and eating well, plenty of wet and dirty nappies but he's gone from the 89th at birth to the 45th now. I don't wanna force feed him and have tried him on more for his first bottle but it means he has less in his last and it balances out to be exactly the same across the 24 hours so I've switched back to what he was having for now.

Started around 18 weeks old for us been going on the past week and a half.

i think if they drop two centiles it is normally advised to get a check. My eldest dropped from 50th to 25th around this age and HV had no concerns said if he dropped to 10th we’d arrange a GP appointment but he’s followed that centile since.

Nclktnntt · 24/04/2024 21:55

@Noname112 ohhhhh I hope we're already in it - we're going away when he's 18 weeks - his sleeps going to be up in the air anyways, adding a regression might not be fun lol

Hey ladies been a while, how is everyone? Looking for some advice/opinions, baby girl seems to have developed a rash, im 99% sure its eczema but just wanted some second opinions, she seems mildly grouchy with it but otherwise still her happy chirpy self n even rolled over for first time today! 😊 xx

Nclktnntt · 27/04/2024 21:33

@Avie29 our little man has developed a rash which I am and was convinced is a heat rash, but also had some dry patches. Doctor has said he has very dry skin (although it didn't all seem dry) and also agreed about the heat rash. Gave me some cream and I'm having to smother him at every nappy change. I went back 2 days later as the rash seemed to get worse and they've said to continue as it might need to get worse before better 😢 I'm not convinced the creams helping the rash but it is helping the dry patches. They don't think it's eczema though.

She also said to do an extra rinse when washing his clothes and the creams she gave, a couple can be used as soap substitutes.

Nclktnntt · 27/04/2024 21:35

@Avie29 I think the part on his leg looks similar to the rash your little one has. I'd def take her to the doctor or call you HV. The creams we've been given are aproderm.

Congratulations on the roll over! Our little ones trying 😊

Avie29 · 27/04/2024 22:22

@Nclktnntt thanks for the advice, yes they do look similar, i have smothered her in sudo cream and breastmilk (supposed to be good for babys skin) and will have a look in the morning, shes had a dry scaly patch next to her belly button for a few days now and was calming down but i gave her a bath last night n it seems to have aggravated it and spread it, my OH has really bad eczema and it looks similar to when he has a flare up, will keep you posted as to how she gets on xx

Nclktnntt · 28/04/2024 07:47

@Avie29 yes, breast milk is supposed to be excellent for their skin and you can bath them in it too. We're formula feeding so I can't try that but I would certainly try it if you have enough too.

@Nclktnntt well tummy is looking less irritated at morning nappy change, don’t know if it was the cream or the milk though haha yes i did read about milk baths but i think im gonna avoid baths untill it calms down, back to top n tailing for a few days i think xx

Avie29 · 28/04/2024 10:55

Has anyone started weaning baby yet? My little girl has been showing real interest in food for couple weeks now, trying to grab our food on plates, trying to grab our utensils and cups etc so yesterday i blended up some roast dinner for her-just some potato, brussel sprout, carrot n tiny bit of stuffing so there were no lumps (it looked gross haha) I expected her to try some n spit it out, but she loved it n ate the lot, i know the recommended now is 6 months but it used to be 4 when i had my older kids (she is 4 months in one week), so my question is do i continue with small amounts or wait till 6 months? She really did seem to enjoy it n coped very well no gagging or anything, thanks xx

FirstMondayInMay · 28/04/2024 12:29

@Avie29 I’ve been giving baby veg and fruit puree’s for a couple of weeks now (he’s 20 weeks today). The idea of him just being able to eat solids at 6m after only ever having milk freaks me out. Like your baby, he’s very interested at meal times and has been finishing the majority of what I offer to him. And funnily enough, last night was the first time he’s refused anything I’ve given him!

Noname112 · 28/04/2024 12:51

My eldest had allergies. I’d be careful re early weaning. I’m sure there are links to ibs development and other gastrointestinal issues which is why they changed guidance. If you are giving food I think it should only be fruit and veg. Definitely no gluten I made this mistake with my eldest and he does have a wheat allergy (which I’m still hoping he’ll grow out of).

Avie29 · 28/04/2024 18:22

@FirstMondayInMay yea i always started weaning my older 4 at about 3/4 months when they started showing interest in food but that was 9 years ago and everything has changed now haha so im questioning myself i suppose, all my older 4 were/are good eaters, not fussy at all, they even like brussel sprouts and broccoli lol so think im just going to follow my instincts again, she tried banana and apple puree for dinner today (we had fish and chips so couldn’t blend that up haha) and again ate pretty much all of it no problems 😊 xx

Nclktnntt · 29/04/2024 06:59

@Avie29 how's your little ones skin today? I bathed my little one in his cream again and we rewashed his whole wardrobe and extra rinsed everything and his skin today is 100 times better. Still has a slight rash, but I feel the creams are working for him thankfully. 😊 no cream yet this morning as he's demanding food 😂

It's gone completely from his face and it's not as high up on his front

@Nclktnntt ny LO has a rash like that and we’re seeing the doctor today. Hopefully we get some cream that works!

I did think it was eczema but maybe not, what did the doctor say caused yours?

Avie29 · 29/04/2024 08:48

@Nclktnntt her rash is also looking loads better today, definitely not as red and irritated looking, i have been rubbing her down with breastmilk in the evening before bed seems to be working 👍🏻 xx

Nclktnntt · 29/04/2024 08:49

@Mushroo they don't know, she said his skin is really dry and could just be the fact his skin on the inside was covered with the vernix and living in water now it's having to mature and handle the outside world. She also said sometimes babies get rashes and they stay for a while then go, and sometimes they might be reacting to something in their bath soap - the SLS (Sodium Lauryl sulfate) is usually the irritant there. The ingredient Fragrance can cause irritation and Benzyl Alcohol can be drying on the skin so check your wash doesn't contain those. But I never washed his face with anything but water (because I have sensitive skin on my face so didn't want to risk it) and he got it on his face 🤷‍♀️ buuuut, I used the cream soap substitute on his face yesterday and it's cleared up.

What didn't make sense in our case is his face, because his clothes and soaps don't touch it.

But with the weather changing, she did say if they have sensitive skin, it could be as simple as the weather has warmed up and if he got too hot and sweaty at all and their was any residue of washing powder left in the fabric of his clothes that this could have upset his skin (we use indented liquid for babies but could still have an irritant in there). Which is why we've rewashed and extra rinsed everything. We'll also start extra rinsing our clothes so they don't irritate him when he's on us.

She gave us aproderm emollient starter pack to find which worked best for us before getting the 500ml bottles on prescription.

Let us know what your doctor says and how you get on, does your little one have any dry skin at all? My LO had dry patches which I thought was linked to a course of antibiotics he had but it never went away.

@Avie29 oh that's amazing. It does look loads better. Glad it's working for her 😊

Anyone going/gone through a sleep regression? My LG is 19 weeks. Yesterday her longest nap was 28 minutes and last night she was up from 3.15-5.15am, would fall asleep easily enough in my arms but whenever I placed her in the next to me she was wide awake! This also happened during the night on Friday! Hoping it doesn’t last long.

Mushroo · 29/04/2024 12:00

@99SR we’ve started the regression bang on 4 months.

Fighting all naps and then only sleeping half an hour.

Overnight, gone from sleeping 8 hours straight to waking every 2/3. It’s like we’re back in the newborn phase 😩

Hoping it doesn’t last long - trying to increase day feeds but it’s not really doing much.

Yep exactly the same here! We still get a block of about 5 hours at night but then really unsettled after that. she’s fought her naps all day so is EXTREMELY tired lol. If she doesn’t have a cat nap I’ll never get her to stay awake (and be happy) until 7pm 😂 also she’s learned this shriek!? Not a cry but a very loud squeaky scream she just does all day (assuming it’s because she’s overtired but wow!!!)

Charlielechat · 29/04/2024 19:31

Yep, regression has hit here too. We might get a 2-4 hour stretch at the beginning of the night, and after that he fights going down into his snuzpod and wakes up every hour! Falls asleep in our arms easily too. So glad to hear other people are experiencing the same - especially when you hear of so many babies sleeping through the night! @Mushroo @99SR have you been feeding overnight? I have to feed him once or twice but I'm afraid this is the wrong thing to do as he still wakes up again anyway 😣 His sleeps changed about a month ago after we took away the love to dream suit but we got a few good nights with him. But now it's been almost 2 weeks without one decent sleep! Coincidentally since his last vaccination - not sure if that's bothered him!

Nclktnntt · 29/04/2024 19:40

What did the doctors say @Mushroo ?
