Glucose in urine

I had a gestational diabetes test at 28 weeks pregnant which was negative, (tested due to family history of diabetes), but my midwife found a high level of glucose in my urine at my appointment (now 31 weeks). I'm going back next week to have my urine checked again and to be booked for another gestational diabetes test if glucose is still present in my urine. Has anybody had glucose in their urine at this stage and not had gestational diabetes? Or had a negative gestational diabetes test result and then been diagnosed later in pregnancy? I've gotten myself worried now and I'm second guessing symptoms I've been having thinking it could be a sign of gestational diabetes. Thank you so much in advance.

It isn’t necessarily GD, the GTT will either confirm or rule it out but it isn’t a given so don’t panic too much, easier said than done I know.

What does it mean if glucose is found in urine? It can often be normal during pregnancy as the kidneys allow more glucose to pass into urine during pregnancy. However, it could also suggest the possibility of having had undetected diabetes before this pregnancy, so further testing is needed to clarify if this is so.

Thank you - that's reassuring.

I'm currently 40+ 4 weeks. I've had glucose in my urine on several occasions! GTT negative, blood sugar normal. So I'm baffled!!!! I have a VERY sweet tooth though so I'm putting it down to that!

I am 28 weeks +4 and I am waiting for a gtt test, I just want to know how having diabetes actually makes you feel? I don’t know if I am feeling poorly because I am reading to much about the symptoms! Xx
